Omega: Please Release a Smaller Seamaster

I am not the only one wishing for a smaller Seamaster from Omega, preferably between 38mm to 40mm. Full tapering bracelet (20mm to 16mm). A lot of owners and reviewers feel the watch is a bit too large. There is the PO 39, but the case and bracelet are too thick. The day they make one, if ever, is when I’ll own my first Omega.

Yes! A 39mm Seamaster with a simplified, fully brushed bracelet and tool-less micro adjust clasp would be a must buy for me. Unless they raise the price to Submariner levels.

·

They need to take care of the god awful bracelet first. Bracelet is way too busy!!!

·

I think Tudor already proved this concept with the Pelagos. And with the Seamaster being far more popular I can only imagine it will be a huge success.

I’d personally consider buying another seamaster if it was 38/39mm in a different colour way. But would it make my current one obsolete..

I love everything about the Seamaster design. The case, bezel, dial, handset, and even the two things a lot of people dislike: the bracelet and escape valve. I tried one on at the AD and just couldn’t swing the large size.

·

They already do.

Way cooler than the SMP too ....

39mm case, 41mm bezel.

Personally I want a 2254 reissue 🤞🏻

My wrists are on the smaller end of the scale as well and I do feel the size sometimes. But I managed to overcome it and haven’t regretted it.

Straps make the size more manageable, but I’m a bracelet lover. Thx for sharing that beauty

I love this watch. But I love the standard Seamaster even more.

Great answer 😁👍🏻

The bracelet is absolute trash in my opinion. Hence I went with the black rubber. Had it been on bracelet I would have got the white dial.

·

36mm to 38mm Please. 👍

Totally - I love my vintage ref but would be great to get a new one with the ceramic dial..

·

While I do agree with you, that a smaller 300m would be grand, I was surprised by how well this wears. I have 16,5cm wrists and only own ≤40mm watches, but I recently bought the green Seamaster for my brother and it wears beautifully. Specs are not everything 😜

I agree that it’s a larger watch but specs aren’t everything. I find my SMP and Speedy totally wearable (Don’t get me wrong I prefer smaller watches like my Sinn 556).

More pressing is the bracelet thing. C’mon Omega you did so good with the Speedy…it’s time for the SMP to get some love.

Let’s see a new slim 40mm Great White GMT in titanium with a new tapered bracelet!

·

I really like my Seamaster SMP, bought it with a white dial for some variety but am in the cohort who dislike the design of the 5 link bracelet. The rubber or steel mesh would be a visual upgrade but I am frugal with extra straps and bracelets, dollars are better allocated to future watch purchases in my opinion. I remain indifferent to the size, probably would not buy a smaller model.

·

Yup. I had to purchase a 90s 2252.50 model for the 36mm case size. I would love a modern 39mm lug to lug 47mm.

It’s a dive watch it should be large it’s part of the function

It’s why a sub is the same size

It’s driven by its function not this months new fashion

Large in size is not a requirement for a dive watch. A lot of professional, legitimate divers are 40mm and under. Submariner isn’t the same size.

Both are 41/42mm as far as I can remember and the serious divers like the deep sea are larger again

Form following function

Not saying it’s wrong to want a watch that is smaller at all just saying even though most dive watches will not be used for their primary purpose these full size divers are not compromised for current fashion trends. I’ve moved from a sinn ux to a sinn u50 myself but if I was using one to dive it would be the UX every time

I thought about getting a ceramic seamaster too. I too have the seamaster quartz and think that fits perfectly on my wrist. Tried out a new seamaster recently and I feel like its a bit big on me. Likely due to the bracelet but overall thickness too. I think it's likely I can alleviate those issues with an aftermarket bracelet or rubber strap.

They would have to call it the Seamaster 300 Amateur then

Or Seamaster Reduced?

I used to have a modern ceramic on rubber (the Tokyo Olympics). It’s such a well made thing but just a bit too big!

I am ok with mine, as is.....

Uh, no. Despite what Rolex states, the latest Submariner – reference 126610 – is 40.5mm in width, not 41mm. That's quite a difference on wrist when compared to a 42mm wide case with a non-full tapering bracelet. The Seamaster's thickness and L2L is also larger.

·

Humm lug to lug sub is longer by .1 a mill that’s a lot as you say 😂 seriously I used these two as examples that are comparable in size not identical in size they are close enough that it makes no odds

I’m doubting a smaller variation is in the plans. The Seamaster is incredibly popular, and there’s scores of variations and special editions. The OP stated they won’t buy an Omega until there’s a smaller case, and to each their own. I love my Omega watches, and wouldn’t trade or sell any of them.

Love that SE! Wanted one, and even though my primary collection is closed I’d have to consider it if a mint one was available at a good price. Very nice watch.

·

When they ditch the skeleton hands, improve the bracelet and ditch the He escape valve they have my money. So easy, they just need to look a bit into history books, they did it already

·

I like mine just fine in a 42mm, but i don’t hate larger watches. However, if they came out with a SMP 300 in 39mm with a red dial/bezel… I’d be on it!

·

Cheers to that. The previous gen 300m at 41 was brilliant with its shorter lugs and relatively thin case. It wore closer to a bb58 than the newer gen.

·

Well I'm the proud owner of the vintage midsize version and I love that watch, 36ish diameter, cosc certified automatic calibre, yes the bracelet is a bit dodgy and its design is long in the tooth. Yet this watch is a strap monster, rubber, nato, milanese you name it...
