Visiting Italy this Summer. Type of watch should I wear?

Don’t want to get targeted. Should I wear one of my nicer pieces or go with something lower end like a Seiko. I want to create memories with my watches so I’m leaning towards one of my nicer watches. Not everyday you get to visit Italy. If anyone has been in a similar situation would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

G-Shock. I love Italy and it is overall very safe. Be careful with pickpockets in Rome. Enjoy a wonderful country

Take what you can afford to lose, in case there's a problem. A nice Seiko seems like a good choice. If you want to make memories, BUY a watch in Italy and take it back home on one of the last days there.

"Yeah, I bought that one in Italy."

Depending on where you visit in Italy. Florence, Verona, Lake Como and Venice (for example) are safer than populace Rome, Naples and Milan. If you bring a pricey watch, then be street smart with it. Have a great time and arrivederci! 🤙❤️

I would recommend not to bring a Rolex with you or a well known modell drom another Brand.

Even if the medium sized cities are less in violent crime, but you have everywhere in Italy more or less a professional pick poket industry.

I don't know your collection, but for example a Imega DeVille would be good. Classy look but doesn't scream "Hello Stranger!".

As you will cisit historical and cultural sights a classy watch would fit perfect.

Consider Italy in the Summee as hot and humit. So a rubber strap could stick with sweat on your wrist.

I know a leather strap wouldn't be much better, but a brown strap would fit to the collors of Italian environment, museums and cities.

As an alternative maybe a a good textile strap in brown or Beige...on a:

  • Classical dresswatch

  • A dressy Flieger/Field watch

  • Something Explorer like

For example...just imagine with other straps.

But I also do like the Idea of @Pallet_Fork to buy there a watch for your memories.

Italy isn't very dangerous. Just don't go to dodgy places, same as when you are not in Italy 😀

·

I think your Hamilton Khaki Field would be perfect. Nice enough, presumably a keeper and you’re unlikely to be targeted for that as it doesn’t look remotely like Omega, Rolex, etc.

GShock

Buy a Panerai and you can let people know that you became a Paneristi in Italy!

G shock all the wayyy

I live in Italy and have already visited most of it.

In my opinion the watch you want to wear depends a lot on the city you're going to. For example, if you are going to Milan, Rome or Naples, I advise you not to wear expensive or expensive-looking watches, as these are particularly dangerous. If, on the other hand, you visit country towns, without skyscrapers and tourists, you can wear whatever you want and usually, if there are no tourists, there are no pickpockets either. Italy except in the big cities is not dangerous, but if I were you I would be careful anyway.

P.S. I hope you will enjoy your holiday 😀

·

agree with the others, probably don't wear a super high end watch. I know that for myself, if I am constantly worried about something happening to my nice watch it would rob the joy from the trip for me.

·

Wear anything cheap so it gives you the excuse to buy a new one there. On holiday your supposed to bring memories back not take them there.

·

I wore a Swatch Gent during my five-day trip to Rome last summer. I had just come from Switzerland so I had taken my other Swiss watches there for a homecoming of sorts, but they never left my suitcase while I was in Italy.

I travel with my M5610 square G-Shock. The truth is that I don't really need to know the time when I vacation, I'm just used to wear a wrist watch and TBH the square is all the watch that I really need and it can be worn anytime, anywhere and with anything.

·

I wear anything to most places. Take a Seiko for evening wear if you're going to bars in the evening, just the same sensible precaution you'd use in any big city.

FWIW I'd be far more comfortable in Italy than US.

·

Last time I was in Italy I wore a Seamaster on a rubber strap during the day and changed to a speedmaster in the evening in time for drinks. However I was not visiting any big cities.
