Crazy thought? Wearing a watch to the afterlife.

So my sister has taught a class at University about death and dying and has/is researching options for burial and such and tries to educate me. She’s an academic, I’m not. Anyway…..
I suddenly thought to myself if not cremated do I request to be buried wearing a watch and if so which one?
I am honestly not clear on how often it occurs or what societal norms are.
Stuff you start thinking of in mid fifties.

Has anyone here actually thought about this and do you have a watch that you want to remain with you?

Never gave that any thought at 61 lol

Don’t get buried in anything your kids will treasure.

I do have a son that likes watches but I think generally we are a very niche group and most kids will dump anything for cash.
Cynical me I guess.

Well, if your kids don’t care, then get buried with ALL the watches.

·

Nope, put me on the grill and get rid of the ashes. I hope to be able to give some watches away before than, but otherwise, auction them off and go to a number of great causes.

·

Nah. Compost me.

Reminds me of the old joke:

Me: “If I died, would you let your next husband wear my watches?

Wife: “Of course not. He prefers his Rolex.”

I for one am totally fine with that.

And I'm totally fine with that too 😂

#afterlife #deathclock  Yeah I'd be buried with my watch. Which one though? I would definitely have to give it a bit of consideration. Eternity is a long time to be looking at something.

Probably be a simple 3 hander no date , maybe.

Or not , definitely needs thought.

After a bit of consideration I'm going to go with my Sinn 556 A RS, it has a date but otherwise it meets my requirements for a time piece in the afterlife.

Being a Norwegian, this crazy thought sounds like a Viking funeral. Maybe there's a reason that tradition "died out" (pun intended) almost 1000 years ago.

·

It would have to be one of my quartz watches, otherwise it’ll be dead like me in a couple of days...😵‍💫

·

It'll need to be highly heat resistant where I'll probably end up.

Maybe a Bulova Devil Diver

Rolex Beelzebubble Back?

or

Sinn

or

Helbros

or

 Daniel Hellington

or

???

I’m not being buried or cremated with anything. Although if they/we decide to go open coffin, I’d like a nice suit with a nice watch on - you know if anyone wants to post it on their socials etc 😉. If the family wants to give away all my watches or keep them that’s up to them - all good. I won’t need them after I’m dead (I didn’t have one before I was born after all).

·

I plan to be buried with a watch that is set to the date and time of my death.

Here is an idea. Keep a list of your watches and their prices and those that you want them to keep. If something happens to you, let them know they can sell it to get the extra income...or buy an Apple watch.

·

Bringing a watch to the afterlife, I have to decide if I bring a watch that will be okay with the humidity of the clouds, or one that can stand all that heat. 🤔🤔

If I adopt you can you leave your Uncle ( me ) the white dial Explorer II :)

·

Note to self, do not be dying beside gbelleh....  I will leave you the explorer II for random lucky nephew number 1...

·

Never really gave it much thought.  But, once I'm dead, I will have ALL the time in the world and won't need to know what time it is.  I will leave my watch collection for whoever still needs to know what time it is.

I believe in reincarnation so I'm gonna come back and pick up my shit.

Pretty sure a fresh baby is gonna need timers for nap time and poopies.

I have had events in my life that have caused me to really give reincarnation more thought than I ever have before.

Oh yeah me too.

And there's some fascinating documentaries on kids with past life memories.

·

When I consider the value of my collection and how that money could impact my wife or kid’s financial future, I think it’s better that I be burned without a good watch on my wrist.

We are in different places with our collections financially. 😁

I watched this kid on tv that it seems died in 9/11 at World Trade Center In a prior life.
At toddler age he was having reactions, saying things and knowledge that was in no way taught or staged.

Yeah a lot of them are like that.

There's a professor guy who collected a lot of cases. I think they said 3000 or so.

·

I’ve experienced deja vu, many times, since the late 60’s, at least I think I have.

Good point. Makes me think I should have less watches and more life insurance especially given the value of my collection.
