My new Longines watch
As I reported before, Mrs Munky was kind enough to buy me a watch for our golden wedding anniversary. The first attempt at buying was aborted as there were a couple of things seriously wrong with a microbrand watch that I decided on.
Instead, yesterday, we went out and she bought me the Longines Conquest VHP watch. I pick it up next week. Bear in mind that I am an 'affordable' watch buyer and that this is a bit of a leap for me. I think it is beautiful. As always, these things look even better in the flesh. It has, for instance, some nicely contrasting red bits. This one has a beautiful face (to which I compare my own) and is finished so well. The only slight concern I have (seemingly as nearly always) is the bracelet. But...I have already bonded with this watch. I hope you like it.
Another 50 years with Mrs Munky and I should be sporting a Patek.
I collect affordable watches and if possible, ones with some history behind them. I like Vostok and have three of their's. I have a one-handed, Luch watch from Belarus and a beautiful, English, Elliot...

I too am an affordable watch collector and the watches I like in the next range are Hamilton, Bulova and a few above that will be Longines. Love those 3 brands and their watches. I've seen those watches in person. They're really nice. I used to have one of the non-VHP Conquests. Good choice!
The VHP models are good for +/- 5 seconds per year. Amazing.
The bracelet, as I recall, has a "butterfly" clasp rather than a divers-style class, correct? I'm not a fan of butterfly clasps as they don't have the same level of adjustability as a diver-style clasp with the microadjustment holes. Still, the bracelet should come with different sized half-links, which gives you some options as to sizing.

If this watch had eco-drive like technology this would have been my affordable grail watch for a very long time. Dang.... Citizen eco-drive HAQ quartz watches are so expensive. Seino solar technology is a hit or miss. Either way I'm contemplating on buying this watch sooner or later.
