In this selection, tough choice between the Bulova or the Eco-Drive movement. The 262kHz is really nice to look at and the Eco-Drive is the ultimate definition of set and forget. My Eco-Drive never stopped ticking for the last 16 years without any issues.
I wanted one of these on the bracelet, until they said the sale price 🤪😂🤔don't know where they got that number from 😬
I know, I will get one but at a price I want to pay. It’s a master class in absolute precision and when you think Credor would charge 50k for a spring drive watch (albeit with a stunning hand painted dial) it shows that a lot of manufacturers charge what they think they can get away with. I’m sure it hasn’t escaped Rolex’s notice that a there is a lot of people happy to pay above list.

Totally agree my friend don't see many for sale ether,no its definitely not slipped by them now there selling there second hand watches for more than there knew ones 🙄😂cheeky anyone doing it just backwards them joining in.
I’d argue that it’s still quartz timekeeping, because time is maintained by quartz crystals and the electromagnetic glide wheel. The mechanical gear train creates the energy and moves the hands. The regulation itself is accomplished via quartz tech.
Sinn Ux high torque thermo compensated quatz it sits in an oil filled case and movement is rated to 500 bar before timekeeping is affected also rated to +/- 10 seconds a year seven jewels and fully serviceable.

That’s just me though. Maybe I’m way off.
No I think you’re right on. Spring Drive is 100% a quartz timekeeping movement, and that’s something to be proud of, not shameful of! I think as technology develops it’s important to start separating the pieces. There are three pieces:
Where does energy come from (battery, solar, kinetic-direct, kinetic-spring, … [future tech])
How is time kept (quartz, AT-cut quartz, SC-cut quartz, thermocompensated quartz, …[future tech])
How is time displayed (electric escapement, Lavet stepper, magnetic brake, LCD display, electrostatic drive, …[future tech])
“Normal” quartz = battery + quartz + stepper
EcoDrive = solar + quartz + stepper
Seiko Kinect = kinetic-direct + quartz + stepper
Spring Drive = kinetic-spring + quartz + magnetic brake

Coolest isn’t on the list. Most accurate watch ever made.
Grand Seiko 9F
Seiko VH31. Not nearly as smooth as the 262 from Bulova, but for a $15 movement, it will fix any seconds hand alignment OCD issues.

Forgot Radio Frequency and Atomic Timekeeping
Grand Seiko 8J
Farer Ainsdale, discontinued too bad. Flyback, split chrono, all kinds of goodness
Brietling Super Quartz, thermo compensated and all!
Solarbeat
Longines ultra-quartz from the early 70s. The first and only cybernetic watch. A complete nightmare of a movement but an interesting concept.
Seiko Kinetic? Here's mine, SKA201
You could argue spring drive is quartz technology.
I mean it eats light and spits it out as time keeping, solar's pretty cool.
8F32 from SEIKO.

Wow, nightmare is right! All those solder joints better be perfect!
I went Bulova because the sweep is mesmerising and doesn't get old, they just need to put it in some nicer looking watches... Here's my ugly beast 😂
i hope the success of the jetstar models shows them how badly people want good looking precisionist watches

Hamilton PSR
i wouldnt call spring drive quartz though
its pretty much its own thing

Eco-Drive baybeeeeeeeeeee

Citizen 0100 = solar + AT-cut thermocompensated quartz + stepper
Etc etc
I'd say spring drive.
I would agree woth the citizen 0100 caliber, is the most accurate and in a pretty design.
ETA's thermocompensated PreciDrive movements.
+/-10s/year
Available in watches as inexpensive as $250
Grand Seiko 9F and it’s not even close
Grand Seiko has the coolest quartz technology. It’s measured in seconds it loses per YEAR, not per month or day.

so does the precisionist 😬
