An argument I actually won ( I think )

Let me begin by saying that no one or nothing was hurt in this arguments except for a huge ego ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Yesterday at work a regular customer and arrived and we got to chatting. Noticed he was a wearing a Tudor BB 58.

He has told me he has just purchased it.

He then saw my citizen promaster ( the ashtray, the big ugly ๐Ÿ˜‚).

Is that one of those eco drive watches ?

Yep I said.

Immediately his interest was gone and he just turned his nose up at it.

The rage in me grew slowly, but I remained calm.

Problem with eco drive watches I said ?

Well it's quartz. Not a proper watch

A smile came over my face ( in my mind I had beaten him to a bloody pulp ).

Tells the time just like yours, has great water resistance and after charging in natural light lasts for about 6 months, costs a shit load less than yours.

He just looked at me started to walk off.

Btw I said. Your overpriced electric car is just a f***ing glorified milk float.

He tried to argue about the pluses in owning an electric car.

But that's another argument.

2 bottles of milk please.

Have a great day crunchers. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Haha, should have said that an electric car is "not a proper car."

Hey, mechanical watch, mechanical car. He argues for one but not the other. Hypocrite.

Might get a Tudor homage and wear when I see him next.

His head might explode ( if I'm lucky ) ๐Ÿ˜‚

There are wยฃ&@ers everywhere ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

Itโ€™s a watch and as a fellow cruncher once said to me" I ainโ€™t bothered about the elves inside"

Reminds me of a conversation I had with a moron wearing a GMT master 2, who kept remorselessly going on about how much it was worth and then the cheeky monkey disagreed with me when I said Rolex was originally a English watchmaker who sourced parts and assembled emโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ..

Enjoy your warm feeling thatโ€™s glowing inside you, your a better man๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Pure watch snobbery. From a Casio f91 w to a Daytona. We all like them and that's why we are here to share what we like and wear ๐Ÿ‘

Glorious!

I'd say he's not a real watch person. And.... Definitely not a car person.

ยท

Call me weird just the fact he knew what Eco-Drive was I would of being more interested in talking watches. I don't expect people from the top down to understand Citizen or affordable watches. I don't expect homage collectors to understand why I hate most homages. Even worse try to talk to someone with an Apple watch. They have both beat (Quartz and Mechanical) in term of functionality and what a tool watch should be.

He just likes to show off. But why you would want to show off your glorified milk float beggers belief ๐Ÿ˜‚

He does know a bit about watches but sees quartz as sub par. I have worn my g shock before and he just calls it's a cheap plastic watch.

You may have "won", but you may have also lost a regular customer if he felt offended.

He will be back. I just wont deal with him anymore. I will get a non watch person to help him out, which is everyone but me

This seems like an event, that if true, could've easily been avoided or turned into a moment of gaining a watch friend.

ยท

The ironic part? They are both great watches.

It could have been, but life is short and it's not the first time this has happened but not the extent of yesterday

ยท

You should see what he says about kinetic watches.

They are. If I don't like something I'm not going to put the boots in.

If I don't like something and that person does I'm happy for them.

Many a watch I here that I'm not a fan of it if that person like it then that's all that matters ๐Ÿ‘

ยท

Eco drive is brilliant technology, Iโ€™ve got quartz battery powered, Seikokinetic,Citizen eco drive, auto mech, hand winding mech, they are all watches & have their own strengths & weakneses. He wouldnโ€™t be on watch crunch.Enjoy the watches you own whatever they are.

ยท

You know, from something that's "not a proper watch", it sure made the Swiss watch industry shit itself at some point in history lol

ยท

Tell him you do know that's not a proper rolex right ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

ยท

Heโ€™s a try hard who doesnโ€™t deserve your time beyond whatโ€™s necessary. Move on be happy

Yikes, just read the post and banter.

I guess if you guys always are harsh to each other and both enjoy it, cool.

No hate for a BB, and I love Citizen. Iโ€™d ask to try on either of them if a buddy had one.

I drive a Prius prime that gets 1000km (620 miles) on a 11 gallons of gas. And with 30 miles of electric range and charging on regular outlet, I only buy gas about 1x per 3 months. I hate spending on ga$ (= more watch money)

So why are e-cars stupid?

And.. whatโ€™s the milk connection? Why 2 bottles?

Yeah I donโ€™t get the milk reference either

Yeah I donโ€™t get the milk reference either

Because at times milk floats were electric, hence the electric car reference

You should have asked, "Couldn't afford a Rolex, huh?"

That wouldโ€™ve been a good reply

Unfortunately, the whole EV thing has become a "status symbol", similar to luxury watches amongst certain social strata ... it really has nothing to do with the environment (other than on a "virtue signaling" level) ...

There are three EV owners here at our Office Bldg. Each of them is wealthy and could well afford gasoline at 3X the current price.

Our Office Bldg. has three (3) EV charge stations that are meant for staff who own an EV ... they can charge up for free ... see my previous statement.

'nuff said ... ๐Ÿ˜

We have a charging station in California that literally has a giant generator next to it that runs off off diesel fuel. You canโ€™t make this stuff up.

It does have nice plastic plants around it though to help folks keep up the mirage ;)

Our electricity comes from hydro (river pushes turbine) @Baron_Tom So if a station in Cali does it wrong, does that mean the whole idea is wrong? Charging a car costs about a buck. I'm comparatively poor in my city of extreme wealth, which is why I use a plug in car @Savage61 . And my nerd prius is an anti-status symbol, it's 'joe lunchbox signalling'. Rich here all drive Luxury vehicles, e or not, and of course don't care what fuel costs, it's crazy pricey.

Oil money floats Russia and Saudi Arabia. why do we want to keep doing that?Environment is f-ed and getting worse - why do we want to keep doing that?

This convo has devolved into fossil fuel vs other - wrong website for that!

Happy to revert back into an anti watch snob chat. Peace gang ๐Ÿป
