What’s with the hate on rivets?

Was watching a few reviews on the Tudor BB 58, and one consistent “con” was the rivets. Is there a genuine reason as to why the rivets deserve so much hate, other than cosmetic, that I’m missing here?

I personally don‘t have a preference for them as rivets seem to disappear on the wrist. To be honest, I forgot they were on my watch until I was looking at it during my commute and the hate on em came to me.

I actually love the look.

I think the issue most people had was that they were faux and served no purpose. Had they been functional I don’t think people would have criticised it.

Rivets are a nod to industrial applications. Its like the ugly screws all over the face of the Cartier Santos. As if to be tough you need the visible fasteners.

·

I don't hate them. I've actually got a BB 58 incoming. Course' I'll probably wear it on a nato most of the time anyway, but they don't bother me.

·

Looks like a bicycle chain. I shouldn't be surprised that there are people that like this, but I am.

·

I don’t even notice them.

People like to complain about anything slightly different from a no-date Sub, basically. (I’m not a Tudor owner or huge fan, but that’s really what it amounts to.)

On function being important, I was born with two non-functional rivet-like things on my chest, and I’m fine that they are there. They’ve only bothered me a few times, when surfing or running a marathon.

I would not habe gotten the BB36 if it had fake rivets 🤔 maybe if they were actual rivets. That's just my personal take on it. I don't hate it or mind other people liking it 😊

My BB Steel has rivets. Didn’t even notice them at first glance but bought it anyway. Now I sort of like them. Something different. Which is good.

I really think this is it.

We don't like fauxtina, watch fakes, etc. We want the features on our watches to serve purposes, not just be add ons.

I like the look personally.

·

I dislike the jagged taper that comes with the faux rivets.

·

Never noticed the edge either. LOL, Maybe I should start looking at my watches in detail more.

A hundred percent this 👆🏼 It’s the potential excessive vanity / pointlessness (!!) of them being faux rivets that drives most of the hate.

Most owners I know say they don’t even notice them when wearing and I trust them on that.

For me they’re neither here nor there as Im one of those who just doesn’t find modern Tudor inspiring and refers to the range as“Bland Bays” 😱😬🤪

Theres plenty of love for them tho and deservedly so. For folk who align with the aesthetic and brand, they’re an awful lot of watch for the money.

The BB is a hell of a lot of watch for the money. If you like the watch but the bracelet really bothers you, wear it on a strap - it is a strap monster. If you want to wear it on the bracelet, just consider it as one of those quirky things with the watch. After all there are no perfect watches.

I didn't know I was supposed to hate them. Oh well, I better hate them now.

I’ve heard that they ones on Tudors are quite subtle in everyday wear ,like you basically wrote
