What’s the “coolest” watch brand?

I was thinking about this the other day and I think every brand has its merits but there’s something about Hamilton that sticks out to me. It’s such a...

Not gonna say their entire catalog is perfect lol, but it’s such a quirky and likeable brand

Omega is arguably the best “value” product in and around the 5k price range (although they are slowly getting too expensive). The movements are phenomenal and they do for the most part look and feel amazing. But I kinda agree with Nico and Jenni, there’s a lack of flair it seems like one of those brands that keeps trying to recapture the past when it has its “glory days”. The marketing for both the moonwatch and the Bond watch gives me so much secondhand embarrassment. Not to mention that outside of those two watches a lot of their catalog is entirely forgettable, be honest has anyone actually bought a DeVille or a Tresor? It’s a shame cause it should be on top of its game but brands like Tudor, Longines and Oris are creeping up on them with far more interesting and affordable options from brands who seem like they genuinely listen to their customers.

The more time I’ve spent invested in watches the more I’ve realised that the price tag doesn’t matter, nobody cares about your watch, it’s a hard to swallow pill but truthfully very few people are actually interested. Buy what you like it can be a 30k Patek or a €50 Casio either way you’ve got something you enjoy. I used to think “oh the bigger the price tag the better the watch and the better I am than others”, which is not the case, if someone as rich as Bill Gates can wear a €50 Casio that proves that luxury is irrelevant when you enjoy it.

commented on (Potentially) hot take: Seiko’s 6R movements are terrible given the market segment they occupy ·

I learned this the hard (and expensive way) I have a Seiko King Turtle (Manta Ray) and the movement is a so abysmally fucking terrible, I have developed an irrational hatred of Seiko for this, 5 days and it’s five minutes slow. At this point it wouldn’t use it as an egg timer cause it’s so inaccurate. I really want to love Seiko, cool design, impeccable dials and understated cool but for the premiums they charge you can throw a lot of what they make in the bin.

A recent one for me is wearing dimensions, I absolutely love the Tudor Black bay line, but they are all so chunky and heavy on the wrist. This issue has put me off buying a lot of stuff

Plus some of their dress watches come with 200m water resistance 🤯, my only gripe is that almost all their watches have arabic numerals, they should have more options for people who like indices or Roman numerals
