What’s the “coolest” watch brand?

I was thinking about this the other day and I think every brand has its merits but there’s something about Hamilton that sticks out to me. It’s such an unpretentious and likeable brand they just make really good stuff with no interest in showing off or being bling. It’s just nice and anyone who wears one is a friend of mine.

someone that is “cool” is someone that has everything under control and doesn’t give a s*** about what other people think. They are off the beaten path, but with justification.

I would pick an independent brand that is understated but well done. Hamilton might be just a touch to swatch.

Maybe Oris or Monta.

I get what you’re saying about Hamilton though. They make great understated tool watches.

·

In my opinion, the thing that will always hunt Hamilton from becoming as big as some other brands will be not having a classic/popular diver or an affordable line like Seiko 5.

I think that's what makes Seiko so popular their diver line up is filled with classics and new divers. Take away the divers and Seiko is meh. The same goes the other way they need a quick bag release another SKX for 350/400 and millions will be sold.

Oh I do like Oris tbh I’ll give you that anyone who buys one is a true enthusiast, but I think they do too many limited editions

This might be the most accurate description of Seiko I’ve seen in a while, plus their quality control has really gone down the hill, can’t get rid of my king turtle to save my life. I think the smaller Frogman’s that Hamilton have been doing are heading in the right direction for their dive watches. And also not put Roman numerals on 80% of their watches 😅

·

I really cant get into Hamilton, i really try but i think there very much "meh" for me. Im not doubting their quality. I just dont get the hype, but you like what you like 👌

Maybe your asking too much for your turtle?

I’m pretty much in agreement. Hamilton is cool. Gotta soft spot for them and I’ll always have a few in my collection. KFA is one of my main go-tos.

·

In my opinion, Hamilton puts way too much stock in “movie” watches, to where while seeming tough they can also come across gimmicky. And I have 2 Hamiltons. I like love heritage style watches, so the coolest in my opinion are Oris and Longines.

·

Well, I ran the formula several times just to be sure… and based on the MATH… and on the SCIENCE… and with a WHOPPING 3954 point margin of victory… the clear winner is Festina. Never heard of them??… only been around since 1904, that’s basically when watches and cool were invented. Maybe too cool for any of us if I am being honest.

When you say "cool" I instantly think of Moser. It's high horology level but their communication is fun and they don't take themselves seriously. The swiss alp watch as a prank to the Apple watch and lately their "NFT watch" are masterpieces. Plus I love their dials and cases

·

For me.. It’s Oris..like everything else..has its flaws.. But i just think they exude a personality and style all their own.. The watches seem to be a perfect reflection of who they are as a company..A love of their history,An eye toward the future, a sense of humor, they dont seem to be “overly stuffy or precious” in what they design and release..and appear to have a genuine interest in affecting the world beyond just making quality timepieces.. For me.. this makes them a very, very cool watch brand and easy to invest in their product. I’m a fanboy for sure!

Field/Military watches aren’t for everyone, I have criticism of some of their watches myself but overall I love the brand as a whole

Bought it for 620 2 years ago hoping to get 300 for it

I’m thinking of buying another, if I get a decent Christmas bonus I’m going for a Ventura

Longines are to me a level up from Hamilton in terms of “brand” you get what you pay for something unpretentious and good, Oris is a bit more quirky and eccentric but that’s part of their charm, Alpina I’d say are close to what Oris are

·

Doxa! Even though I don’t own one 😂

·

Steve McQueen would say TAG Heuer, Monaco.

Not that I say that. 🤣

·

The query is impossible to answer. The answer is highly subjective

·

Hamilton is extremely pretentious (in MY opinion) as they make such a big deal about being in tons of movies.

Soooo many boxes ticked...

·

Accutron anyone? The "wizardry" of the technology makes it cool.

·

Probably Doxa

He might also say Hanhart.

·

Great question I think my coolest Watch brand is Isotope .. I love their unique designs and limited editions. Here are some

Nomos has grown on me immensely, I’m getting more into smaller and thinner watches and they seem to be the best in the sub 2k range

Yeah! Really high quality in-house for the price. They’re just the wrong side of dressy for me at the moment. I saw a nod to a dive watch model come out recently, but I’d really like something tough and tooly from Nomos.

Plus some of their dress watches come with 200m water resistance 🤯, my only gripe is that almost all their watches have arabic numerals, they should have more options for people who like indices or Roman numerals

·

Wow, you really got me thinking, that one’s pretty subjective. Hamilton is nice but for some reason for me I want to say (TAG) Heuer but that’s really about Porsche and Steve McQueen. He was the apitomy of cool and add the blue Monaco, need I say more?

Doxa! Even though I don’t own one 😂

Agreed,I love my doxa

·

Given Hamilton's frequent appearances in big Hollywood movies, I don't associate Hamilton with trying to stay out of the spotlight. However, Hamilton makes a very good watch and is positioned very nicely in the moderately priced space.

·

Hamilton as it’s the best marriage of US history, movie making and Swiss quality that was ever made. Strangely enough my Murph gets more looks by other people at work than a Max Bill, or other brands … Those watches are so underrated imho.
