Best and Worst things about Watch brands

I’m not gonna include things like price and heritage cause I feel like that would dictate a lot of this.

Rolex

+ Design consistency and timeless

- Brand reputation had overshadowed and been spoiled a little by people flexing

Omega

+ Great movements arguably best in their price bracket

- Bond and the Moon, please stop it it for fucks sake

JLC

+ Undeniably the most attainable high horology brand, plus understated and cool

- Their brand needs to diversify, sadly seen as boring by some due to the Reverso overshadowing everything else.

Cartier

+ Classy, the Santos is the perfect fit for anyone (in the right size) and will look good on anyone

- Beyond the Santos and the Tank you can bin the rest of the catalogue

Oris

+ Genuine and Quirky in a unique way

- Too many limited editions

Seiko

+ For the money the best dials under 1k

- God the movements and quality control has gone down the pan

Hamilton

+ Understated and cool, no BS with them you get a great watch for the money

- Really should put more effort to improve some of their collections (Khaki Navy, American Classic)

Longines

+ The best bang for buck when buying an entry level luxury piece, ooh the logo is pretty

- The Elegance collection is dog shit, sorry not sorry.

Panerai

+ Unique and they stick to their guns when it comes to their designs

- Please size them down a bit, and maybe try something new

Patek Phillipe

+ Insane quality and movement finishing

- Jesus their adverts are pretentious

VC

+ The overseas is the best holy trinity sports watch, fight me

- Sadly a lot of stuff they make is forgettable and who would wanna spend that much on some pretty bland stuff :/

AP

+ The Royal Oak

- The Royal Oak

Nomos

+ Simple, tasteful and more importantly German

- The Lugs, makes it look like when a dog lies stomach down on a cold floor when it’s really hot outside

Tag

+ That sporty blend of modern and classic seems to be working well for them

- Basic movements and those Link bracelets for the 90s

Breitling

+ Very cool brand identity with some genuinely underrated models alongside the icons

- Same as Tag with the movements but also the sizes, many can’t wear them unless you have gorilla sized wrists

Tudor

+ Great Value and dial wise perfectly proportioned

- In danger of becoming a one trick pony with the Black Bay, and way too thick

Tissot

+ Making big strides in the last 2 years finally becoming an exciting brand, PRX and Sideral are just the start

- Other than those two it’s still a very bland brand with not much to offer to true enthusiasts

Casio

+ G-Shock

- Nico has overhyped them to no end they are still just cheap plastic that’s gonna end up in a landfill

I might do a part 2 to this but let me know what you guys think, any differences in opinion?

I disagree about Casio. Dear God Casio plastic watches are indestructible. I once owned a Casio plastic watch as my "beater" watch, and I beat the hell out of it. Swimming, hiking, occasional smashing (I am clumsy...), art making, etc. The only reason I stopped wearing it is because I lost track of it during a move.

I am willing to bet that those plastic Casio watches would outlast most midrange watches while receiving twice the abuses. No, make it 5 times the abuses.

Love it. Was very fun reading it and I would agree with a lot of your opinions. Except the Casio one. I don’t really like g-shocks, but that’s just personal preference. For me the biggest + for Casio is, that they make damn good calculators which I use almost every day for university. 😂

This list had me LOL’ing. Spot on across the board!

Didn’t see God Tier watches for $100 in the list 🤔. I do however own and love a $20 God Tier watch!

They are good don’t get me wrong they are always a no brainier to buy, but it’s the false perception that they are somehow special, it’s like those armoured smartphones, you beat them around and use them and once it’s dead you don’t miss it you just go and buy another. Whereas if you break a Rolex, Omega, Longines etc. you genuinely miss it

The most iconic attainable watches that anyone can enjoy and will compliment you on.
