My SOTC after 1.5 yrs

So after my last purchase (the Lorus Titanium) my watch box is full and i decided to take this SOTC picture. I am seriously into watch collecting for about 1.5 years and besides that Viceroy in the top lef corner (which is a gift from more than 13 years ago) everything else i got in that period. As you can see i am at the budget end of the hobby but that is exactly what i learned for the last 1.5 - 2 years. You can enjoy watches at reasonable price.😊 Of course, i am hoping for the future to be able to add some more high end watches to my collection, but for now this is it...and i love it!

Nice collection!

Thank you! 😊

Nice collection, I'm enjoying the hobby the same way.  They don't have to be expensive to get pleasure from them.  One word of caution, due to the affordability factor, the collection can grow very fast.  I believe I'm over 70 pieces now in about 2 years.

You seems to have a good eye and great taste. Nice collection. Budget is just one part of collecting.

Vary nice collection!!! Welcome to crunch 🤝

Great job!

Good choice of watches. I sure like that Casio day/date! I agree with @TimexBadger that less expensive watches amd the ease at which they may be purchased can begin to clog your collecting drain. I’m about 57 deep — just under my 60 limit I have so subjectively and irrationally chosen.

Love the collection!

I am on the same boat as yours - a budget collection with quite the same story. My box also recently got full with ten Kashio. Some of them match yours. I'm just waiting for some new straps to arrive, then I will also share my first SOTC 😀

Yeah. This is very true. I did not realise until my 10 slot box got filled in two years, didn't expect that! Next purchase will definitely be a box instead of a timepiece 💸

Some great affordable watches in there. Some definite Casio bias though!

Absolutely! The Casio bias is real 😁

·

Welcome and cool collection.  Appreciate you sharing.

Nice collection, there's nothing wrong with budget watches mate, I still have some in my collection after 20 years in this hobby. Work you way up to the more expensive watches, that's if you want to head that way, you can just stay where you are and be completely content, there's a lot of collectors out there who like to stay with budget collecting and why not.

Expensive watches don't always make you happy, there's the thought in the back of your mind always about theft, damage and other things that can give you anxiety around watch collections and if you're that way inclined why put yourself through it?

Just be mindful that you can easily get carried away and end up with numerous watch boxes full within a very short time and still not be happy. I personally had around 300 watches at one point and realised I was no more happy than when I only had 12, so that's where I'm at now, back down to only 12 watches and much happier for it.

Now that you've worked out what you like and what price range your comfortable with make more informed choices, which I'm sure you're already doing. We're not all millionaires and have other commitments in life, like families and mortgages and other passions to pay for, so don't have the disposable cash for expensive watches.

You'll have to update your STOC with your next purchase, we're all a bunch of nosey people here on WC and love to see new watches 🤣

Some wise words from you my friend. Thank you and i think you are right. I am thinking of continuing at this end of the budget watch world and yes, now i am not so in hurry to buy something when i see it. Watching a lot videos, trying to find nice price, seeing if i really neee it ect. So i think my choices are a lot more informed. Hey, i am one of those people, all i do for the last six-seven months since i joined WC is wathing pictures and discussions about new watches. 😁 Thank you!

Absolutely love the Seiko 55 fathoms (SNZH55) I have bought and sold many watches - and this has stayed in my collection, I have no intention of selling.  Not a big fan of the bracelet, so I wear mine on an FKM rubber strap, it looks a million dollars!

You have a great collection budget or otherwise, there are some classic pieces there you should keep whatever else you buy.

I’ve been collecting around the same amount of time and have been collecting more on the budget side, my budget has been increasing though and just moved up to a mid tier priced Oris and Formex. Best of luck on your journey

The SNZH55 is the watch that started all. I have a post about it. My first automatic watch. It will stay in my collection forever. Thanks for the nice words!

300! God man! Get a hold of yourself!😂

You crack me up buddy.

I did in the end, get a hold of myself that is, now I have only 12 🥺 but it's much better for me, less anxiety 😰

·

Great looking box! I’m the same way…more on the budget side of things. When life settles down I may have room for some higher end pieces. But I’ve got some budget watches that I’m sure will stay with me.

·

That’s a great collection! I love the Casio day date and the Casio Ediface!
But, I feel that some of your watches look stressed as your watch pillow may be too large for some of your watches. Could be just the photo and not actual. I would recommend replacing the pillows with soft cushion if that is the case.  Could be just me being stressed 😂
