Do you put desiccant in your watch box?

Is humidity control needed?

If it’s sitting in a drawer I don’t see the point.

·

Nope. I just eat it.

·

I save the silica packets from anything I can so I might as well toss a couple in my box.

·

Not needed in my climate.

·

Only because it came with the box and I have never taken it out 😐.

·

I do. I also have a larger moisture absorbing pack with the watch boxes and a humidity monitor. It can get quite humid where I am.

·

Yeah, I don't want any moisture around my divers! 🤣

·

That's a good idea...

My Timex Marathon has been taped to the sill outside of my south facing window for at least two years. IIRC. Covid seasons have messed with my memory for the recent past.🤨😕

It's chrome like alloy, although grimy hasn't yet started to pit.

My indoors watches are safe 😉 😎

Never heard this. Why is desiccant needed?

That "DO NOT EAT" just comes across as a dare.

Only if you live in a really humid area. Even then it's more of a precaution than a recommendation

·

What's humidity

·

I use a pelican case, so no need to.

I don't know how long one of those little bags last but I had one inside the watchbox when I bought it so I'm still keeping it in there

·

I found them a year into owning my box...

·

Keep the crowns pushed/screwed in.

I don't know if it's needed; that's why I asked the question. Since a lot of things I buy have desiccant packs in them I figured that if the manufacturer of many things think the desiccant is a good idea, maybe it is. I have a 12 slot watch box with 11 watches and desiccant in the 12th slot. I think I want to buy another watch so it may kick the desiccant out of the last slot.

·

Yeah one or two for the vintage pieces. The area of the house with the watch box has some pretty big temperature swings because of sun in the summer and therefore can get humid.

·

Folded paper towel for vintage pieces. It’s a tip I got from The Omega Enthusiast.

Desiccant kicked to the curve.

That's Darwinism applied to the real world. Lol.

I live in a tropical environment. At the suggestion of watch friends, I fill mine with it. It can't hurt. Theyre also very cheap to buy

Don’t want them to get water damaged huh 🤣🤣👍🏻

·

I do but thankfully my house isn’t very old and is well kept maintenance wise, so humidity isn’t much of an issue

·

Yep, why not.

They can't do any harm
