I’ve always like the IDEA of the Seamaster Professional. But the wart that is the helium escape valve was a big turn off for me. And the very stodgy old school, no taper bracelet was also a negative for me. So when I tried on the No Time To Die Seamaster Professional, I was very surprised to like it as much as I did, warts and all.
The titanium bracelet solved the problem of the old style bracelet. And the open bar ends give it a more heritage look which fits with the fauxtina (which I’ve never minded).
The only thing I thought I wouldn’t like is the helium escape valve and the 42mm size. But for some reason neither of those things seem to bother me on this iteration of the watch.
So did I buy it? No. At 10k MSRP, I couldn’t rationalize the economics of this purchase. But I’m surprised I liked it as much as I did and I would be open to a resale of one in good condition.
What’s a watch that you disliked until you tried it on?

For me: It was the BB Chrono.
That watch is a very good looking watch in person. I tried on a Panerai Luminor Blue Notte in Italy over the summer and was very impressed!! I’m not a Pan guy but it fit me perfectly!!
Dive watches and specifically the Rolex Submariner. I don't dive so didn't see the point. Now a certified desk diver 😜
I absolutely love and want the NTTD but like you, $10k retail is rather rich. Luckily, it could be had on the secondary at a steep discount! A watch brand I’m warming up to more recently is Panerai, more the Luminor line🤙
It was a long time ago when a watch enthusiast friend introduced me to a fella who lived in the same upscale condo complex as he with a reputation as a wicked high horology collector with Pateks, vintage Rolex etcetera but the man was sporting a 48mm Breitling Super Avenger which was in fact the watch that he wore almost without exception whether he was meeting with clients or just walking his pooch. I am a long time fan of Breitling but the SA was never on my radar until the man insisted that I try his watch which was fitted to a black croco strap and OEM clasp, joking that the strap and clasp was more expensive than the head of the watch. That was more than 10 years ago, while I do not wear my own SA that often, anymore and none of my immediate family members favour it, I slip it on when I think of old days, old work related battles, old friends passed too soon just love the feel of the large honest watch on my wrist.
The omega smp 300 lol. Once I tried it person I feel in love with it wart, bracelet, and all. I was gonna get a pelagos 42 since I liked my titanium Citizen Fujistubo so much but turns out it’s within cosc specs and the Seamaster is so much nicer in person than in pictures that I decided to pull the trigger.
I couldn’t be happier. It’s was nicer looking than the Tudor and it has a better movement.
There are many in pre owned condition for less than the 10k. You won’t be sorry.
My broker's got a brand new one for significant discount if you're in the market for one. Overnight FedEx, "out of state" sales tax treatment. All in all, that's like 25%+ discount off MSRP.

For me it was the FXD. Didn't get it until I put it on now I want one.
Also, I have a NTTD in excellent condition for sale at a substantial discount in the SF Bay Area. Shoot me a DM if you have any questions. @BillableHours
Just about every Tudor.
I thought the Black Bay Pro’s snowflake hands were terrible, and that the watch was too thick ... until I tried it on.
I thought the Ranger was ugly ... until I tried it on.
I thought the I thought the Black Bay 58 925 was boring ... until I tried it on.
Tudor’s don’t seem to photograph well, but they wear exceptionally.
I think the NTTD is the perfect Seamaster Professional. Lighter, thinner, amazing color and great lume.

you have no idea. i am seriously considering it. welp, i suppose we have two kidneys for a reason…

totally ageee. it simplifies the watch and removes a lot of the clutter.
🔥
Gotta be the Royal Oak. I didn't get it, I truly did not understand, then I tried on one and my brain went "ohhhhhhhhh." They're just perfect, everything is better than you could possibly imagine. Honestly it was probably a really dumb move on my part, I'll never ever own one but now I want one when I used to not care at all!
yeah i think i felt the same with the Royal Oak too
Wasn’t a fan of the BB58 until I tried it on and fell in love with it.
I didn’t like Tudor… but I tried the bb58 on and I felt in love with it !
Amazingly... it's that exact watch. The NTTD is "yeah, whatever" in pictures, but incredible in person. I think it's the best Seamaster 300M.
Casio
Panerai Luminor. I have 16cm wrists, and even though it wears like a desk clock there’s just something about it that doesn’t want me to take it off.
Full size tuna always thought it was way too big before trying one on and now I absolutely love it.
I was indifferent until I tried one on , now I am on a list … hehe … Ahhhh Rolex you’ve done it again ….
I’m not a big fan on metal bands but just fell in love with this one Bulova impressed me a lot.
Watches are like pizza. There is ok pizza and there is great pizza but all pizza good.
I name you Thread Winner. But I also name myself Thread Runner-Up for this one: "Watches are like food. Some people like broccoli, and some don't."

I liked the Luminor for skinny wrists like mine , it’s still big but love your “ desk clock” analogy that made me chuckle :)
yeah i think i felt the same with the Royal Oak too
Yeah dangerous stuff I tried on a Patek Nautilus and went “ damn” this thing is sweeeeet . I liked the platinum one too … damn…..
This AP. Although it will forever be out of reach. I'm a fan now. I didn't use to like the royal oak from pictures and videos. I wonder how i'd feel about the Nautilus once i get to touch one.🤔
Read my comment . My brain just went. “ Damn” I wants it I needs it the precious “ … yeah wasn’t a good idea to try it on 😂

It's a crazy watch ! LOL
When I walk however to the watch box in the morning, this 58 begs to be taken out for the day. I have not figured out the reason. In my case, I was trying out a BB S&G and there was this watch in the glass case that look similar to what I was trying. I asked" What is this ? " "Oh, this is BB58 Sir".
