Do you Love High Accuracy Quartz?

I love the 9F86 Quartz movement from Grand Seiko and the 262 kHz (Ultra-High Frequency) Quartz from Boluva.

What high accuracy quartz do you all have?

I love High Accuracy Quartz. What I don't like are stuttering High Accuracy Quartz, which is the reason for my Bulova Accutron II.

Seiko SBCM023. I know there are more accurate HAQ watches out there, but +/- 20 seconds per year is good enough for me. Especially if I have to change to/from daylight saving time every six months anyway. 🙄

I have a 262 kHz from Bulova and would love to add a 9F as well as a Citizen Chronomaster.

Like you, I have the original lunar pilot, by far my biggest watch. I would also really like to try on the Jet Star with the red dial

Certina DS-2 Presidrive. +/-10s/year.

I picked up this Bulova for a steal last year. I’m still fascinated by the smooth sweeping seconds hand!

Unbelievably accurate. Currently on a 12 month accuracy trial. Supposed to be 10spy however last year it was less than 3spy!

I think everyone needs a quartz in their life!

Certina! Its brand I really want to try out

·

You call that ultra-high frequency, not even close.

Behold the Omega megaquartz 2.4Mhz

At one point it was the most accurate non-thermo compensated quartz watch.

chunky and funky! Some watches need to go big in my opinion

I have a Tank which claimed to have a high-end quartz movement, but the truth is I don’t care. That watch, to me, is all about iconic design. As long as it tells time to a reasonable accuracy, I’m good.

That said, I’ve considered a few GSs with quartz movements, so it’s not a factor that would keep me from buying a watch.

I love my Quartz watches 😍

Love my Lunar Pilot.

Love my GS SBGN003 with the 9F86. First year of ownership the watch gained less than a second.

The Luna pilot is OG

·

I like quartz in general, of my five watches two are quartz, coz they are epic

I would be more interested in high end quartz if they weren't all so big and chunky. In fact if they were smaller than mechanical watches, I would prefer them.

·

Never understood the difference between them. It's both electronic circuits right?

Agreed. They should all be thin and smaller

I've got a 1972 Bulova Accuquartz. Almost perfectly smooth sweep.

I only have one watch with a true HAQ movement in my collection, and I'm very impressed with it. That watch is the Omega X-33 Skywalker with the thermally compensated Omega 5619 movement. It includes several timers, and when I purchased it, I had set one of the timers in order to allow me to monitor its accuracy over time. That timer shows that it was set 606 days ago, during which time the watch has gained 15 seconds. This works out to a deviation of just slightly over 9 seconds per year (less than 1 second per month), which I find quite impressive.

Back on November 7, 2023, I had reset all of my other quartz watches with working batteries to a precise atomic time setting. I just checked each of those watches today (80 days since setting), and compiled the following results, which show an average deviation of about 4 seconds per month.

One of those was a 262kHz Bulova Precisionist 96B158. I had purchased that watch for the ultra smooth sweep of the seconds hand, but when I bought it, I had assumed that the 262kHz rate meant that it was also a high accuracy movement. Although it performed slightly better than the average, it was less accurate after 80 days than my MoonSwatch, and only marginally more accurate than my Tissot PRX, as shown in the attached table.

This certainly suggests that either the Precisionist is not HAQ, or that my watch is well outside the 10 second per year deviation normally associated with HAQ. I'd be interested in hearing what other Precisionist owners are experiencing in terms of their accuracy.

Interesting. Just got my Bulova Jet Star but will test

Thanks! Not bad for a cheap find at an antique shop, huh?

Can you share model?

I have a GS, Bulova Lunar, Breitling Aerospace,TAG LINK, and a Breitling Skyracer. Not sure why people don’t like quartz. I will grant you, that having to deal with the batteries is a pain, but I have the equipment to do it myself, so that helps.

I have 13 uncomplicated and uncluttered Precisionists and Accutron II’s.

A Lunar Pilot

And three Citizen Satellite Wave’s
