Is 36mm too small for a diver? (Review link)

I love this watch I actually don’t mind a 36mm however there is one big issue with a 36mm diver. It looks better on my wife than on me!

Yes i think so, for me a diver should be 40 to 44mm at least, 36mm is for a dress watch

·

Nah, not too small, esp. in vintage sense. Not everyone today will find that size appealing for their wrist - but plenty will. My BB54 at 37mm is about darn perfect on my 6.25in wrist for my tastes.

·

Love a good 36mm diver. I like 33/34mm cases so adding the extra few mm for the bezels keeps the dial size pretty similar to my standard.

·

For larger wrists I would say so I really thought it would look nice but it looked like a toy watch, then I tried on a 41 and it was a perfect fit

·

Get the Oris 65 in 40mm black dial. I have a 7.25inch wrist like you and it’s feels like a smaller design like 38 because of the design and thinness.

Love the nylon

36mm is nice, until your spouse keeps it for herself because it looks good on her. And there's nothing you can do about it.

Exactly what happened to me 😂

Love the honeycomb look!

36mm or up to 38mm is my wife’s preferred size, even my 41mm Tudor Ceramic looks good on her wrist. I have not worn a 36mm for decades.

·

For actual diving visibility… perhaps

For aesthetic look away from actual water… looks awesome to me. But that depends on wrist size and preference.

·

Alot of vintage divers were this size. You can always make it wear bigger with a NATO strap. The Benrus Ultra-Deep below is 36mm.

I have one 38mm diver (have a 7 inch wrist) which i think works fine partially cause the case is a little chunkier but i think 36mm is a bit too small for modern sizes for a dive watch.

Perhaps just slightly. I think 36mm is a perfect stainless steel sports watch size, an ideal GADA-type. A diver should be 37-39mm (my preference), which I know is probably on the smaller end of what most folks prefer.

I used to have a midsize Seamaster, which is a 36mm, and it was just slightly too small, in my opinion.

Here is my 36mm Oris Big Crown Date Pointer that I purchased new decades ago. Note the relative size of the crown. I find the case size too small now. My daughter has her eye on it though.

I also have the 40mm version.

·

Of course it's too small for guys!

·

Give her that and go for the larger one for yourself - happy days …. this is the 40

I had a black dial 40mm Oris diver65 with the ‘blocked in’ 3,6,9,12. It wore perfectly on my slim 165mm wrist. I think 36mm would be too small for me in this style of watch.

The reason I sold the watch was nothing to do with the size.

Are you actually going diving with it? If so, maybe. If not, then not at all.

I’m an open water swimmer so I prefer a screw own crown and at least 100 metres of water resistance!

·

I quite like that size and the design is clean. Maybe leaning a bit too vintage. But for my wrist I'd prefer a 36mm. Let's be real though, you're not taking that diving 😜

·

I respectfully disagree sir! Here's a 36mm diver with some presence! On a skin diver though, could wear small depending on your wrist size

Perfect Size!!!!

That looks awesome my good man! I love the Oris 36mm but it does look so nice on my wife’s wrist. Sometimes you have to concede to defeat in order justify the next purchase 😂

·

Yes, if you’re an actual diver.
