I am going to get so much hate

Hublot

They're simple, overpriced and only stupid rich idiots who want to signal their wealth to their followers buy them. So, yes I know, watch folks hate them.

For 10+ years I get those comments from watch collectors. During those early years, I didn't really wanna wear/talk about it much with watch collectors, cuz it's so cool to hate a Hublot.

But now that I am older, wiser and developed a thicker skin, I'm going to say it, I love my Hublot.

Here is my Hublot Big Bang (10+years old, no service, still running +/-5spd)

OK...I'm ready, give me all the hates 😂

I’m just here to let you know I hate you.

Kidding. You, and everyone else should wear what they like. This isn’t a watch I like, but I can’t really hate it. I think people who want to give you sh*t about it are just foolishly trying to make themselves feel better.

Now this on the other hand…this is a damn eyesore that people buy to show off their wealth.

Not that you asked, but the thing that bothers me about watches like this is that while they may (or may not) do something interesting, they’re so big. There’s nothing impressive about all your complications and stuff if you have to take up 2 watches worth of space to make them. Also, nobody asked for a fun new way to tell time. We’ve already hit on the best ways, you’re contribution is unnecessary and unasked for.

·

I like a lot of their watches and I have to say yours looks particular good in that colorway 👌

·

Nothing wrong with a simple big bang. Especially if bought pre owned..

Yeah, Hublot makes super big watches, and some models are ugly AF IMHO, I couldnt agree more.

Although that limited 50 pieces is pretty cool. Its super innovative, as it dial resembles an engine of Ferrari, tourbillon movement, and 50 days power-reserved (not that we need or will ever need) but if I own a Ferrari (never will) I would love to get this watch to match with the car.

Cheers!

Thanks !!

Let's go on a date to a Hublot boutique!

That's exactly my advice to anyone new to Hublot, get pre-owned.

I was young and foolish.

50 days is crazy, but I think that gets easier to do when you have that much space inside the case to work with.

I only like YOUR Hublot...😉

·

At first glance it looks like a G-Shock.

(That's the most hate that I can bring. To me they are just not my taste but nothing to get worked up over.)

They're simple, overpriced and only stupid rich idiots who want to signal their wealth to their followers buy them.

There are many brands that fit this demographic.

This is a No Hate Zone.

Are you flirting with me 😍

If my date with @DeepCmonkey at a Hublot boutique didn't work out, may I call you? ❤

PS. Cheers!

Yep, but nothing screams pedestrian non-enthusiast new money wannabe like Hublot.

·

ouchhhh love it!

Cheers!

But....this is a Hublot..

I think the hate is more reserved for the person wearing them. For eg, ive always had the displeasure to come across snobbish retards just because they’re using Rolexes, Panerais, Omegas and Hublots. But that doesnt mean the watches worn should be hated upon…. Bar Rolex though (for me 😂)

Love the Big Bang and do fancy a few older pieces, but price and sizing wise were never ideal for me. Enjoy yours!

I want you to meet my Hublot people, they are nice, simple shy and quiet people, just like the watch. No snobs. Haha.

Ps Thanks buddy!

That was a really ugly watch BUT there are some other Hublot's that I grade as class C for "interesting" and actually like a bit...

Plus this class B as "delicious" homage!

Hublot, Richard Mille, and Franck Mueller do not appeal to me at all. The brands are far outside my design aesthetic. If you like them, fine. I do not and in my opinion, their collective designs have only strayed farther from what I prefer in the past few years.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I love all watches from Patek, AP, VC, Rolex, FM, Hublot, Omega, JLC to Seiko, citizen, Orient, Swatch, Casio and everything else in between, but not into homages and fakes.

·

Oh, you want hate? Grab some homages. The hate falls like rain.

·

NEVER from me will you get HATE ! To each his or her OWN ! Love what you Love !! Enjoy! It does look VERY Cool 😎!

Fakes I understand. Homages I don’t?

I have a homage of my favorite watch, but I never pretend its real, and it says its not. It is what it is. A fake is just a fake.

Just not my cup of tea, I have no problem with it 😄

·

Not for me, but why not for thee? I'd never wear one. I'd sell it so fast, time would run backwards. But I support your love of the brand. You should wear what you like, whether it's Hublot, an Invicta or a DW.

Well....maybe not the last one. You might need an intervention.

An homage is a tribute, a special honor paid to someone or something that one admires. It is obviously not the thing itself, but it honors that thing, through the most sincere form of flattery: imitation.

A fake watch, a counterfeit watch, is an imposter. A fraud. It is trying to take the place of the original thing, not pay tribute to it. Plus, fake / counterfeit watch sales often support criminal enterprises, so they should be avoided at all costs.

So for me, I will buy any homage that I see, if it is aesthetically pleasing to my eye. But when I see fake ones (mostly online, on Facebook, which does not police that sort of thing) I cringe, and turn away in horror and disgust. I am of course, speaking only for myself. 😎

·

@Adi365 I think your Hublot looks great! It is sleek and sporty. It reminds me of a G-Shock, which in MY opinion, is not a bad thing. I love Casio. 😎 The contrast of the bright green hands and indices against the black dial is really cool looking! 😎 Cheers! 🍻

Oh, I see. I mis-read your original comment. When you said, "Fakes I understand, homages I don't?" I thought you meant that you understood why people would want fakes, but not why they would want homages. But what you really meant was, you understood why people hate fakes, but not why they hate homages. There's a big difference in those two statements, LOL 🤣 And it's my bad for misunderstanding, LOL 😎 But the fog has lifted, and I am on the right track now. 😀 Cheers! 🍻
