Do you have watch that matches your ride?

Watch Crunchers we all see a lot of cool watches and I know we have cool rides. So let’s see how many of you have a watch that matches their ride. Show me how you roll.

Too easy...go rub some dirt on one of your watches. Voila! You're in the club! 😉

·

Waiting for the New Yorkers (or any big metro area folks) to match a watch to their subway/rail commute. Of course, whether or not you're actually wearing a watch on those commutes depends entirely on the line.

Vintage Animal and vintage Miata!! (Damn this is making me feel old. It's only a '90)

Image

It's what's on the inside that matters!!

Seiko in the Animal and a full cage in the Miata. Plus a turbo hanging off the engine... It's not much but it's what I gots!

When people call miatas vintage I die a little inside 😄. Had a '91, won several autocross championships with it. Still miss it.

I mean, there is a touch of red on my blackbird on the special edition Red does it count? 😁 I just love to pair it for a long drive due to the 12 hours counter. It is more an aviation chrono but it does the job perfectly.

Same,my ST is soooo dirty.Almost,embarrassing!!

Cool fox body.Had a black convertible l;forever ago.

I have a ton of black dial watches. I do love your blue dial Omega

Image
·

Well, Idk if green matches the brown color, although in the shadow its a black dial anyway...

Image

...but I included a bit of a green nature just in case...

Image

...and if that isn't enough then at least my bracelet matches the wheels 😁

Great car. I had a '92 back in the day. There's a kind of person who doesn't 'get' them at all because (a) They've never driven one or, (b) It's all about displacement and going fast in a straight line. The number of mountain roads I murdered in that little 1.6, revving so high and loving it, was insane. Such fun.

Nice Miata! That takes me way back. Miata’s are making a big comeback all the kids want to wrench on them. I like the watch too.

Thank you! They are making a big comeback but the prices are soaring. In Canadian money, you can't get a nice example under 9-10k. Every below is a clapped out pile of garbage with an auto.

The watch was my father's. I made him get it over 20 years ago. It's an Animal W001 but I can't remember the exact model number. It's a Seiko movement.

That's exquisite!! Which one? Both.

I've always love this car. It's a sexy machine for sure!

Well not with the dial colour.

But.

Both are made in Japan and manufactured in 2021.

Both are manual and have gears(haha) actually the watch also has a rotor I guess.

Both are analog, I know that’s a stretch.!

And both are affordable yet feel special in the wearing/driving experience.

That soul red is amazing! Any Mazda look good with this red. The Miata (let's call it by what it is!! 😜) Especially

I had a 86 rx7 until my boys arrived and it became a little impractical and I just loved everything about it. ESP the gearbox and handling. Rotary’s are a bit of a hassle I must say.

They grew up and i recently got the 21 mx5 RT. Best decision I’ve made in bloody years.

I can appreciate massive HP, but living and driving in a city with shitloads of radar cameras makes it not so much fun.

So. 181 HP when matched to an absolutely sweet manual 6 speed and a car that weighs around 200lbs is an enough fun for me.

Not to mention when I get to hit the mountains it’s a driving experience that’s hard to match.

The rotary engine is wicked! The little niggles are too much for me.

Low power cars rung out to an inch of their lives are so much fun to drive! On the streets, there's no way you can exploit all the potential of high HP cars. It's too much fun to be driving at the limit of a car while being within the speed limits!

I used to have an MGB - it was my first car, age 18 - and it was so fun to drive. It had the 1800cc engine, lots of suspension work, and when it threw a rod in college my brother (a Master mechanic for Chrysler at the time) rebuilt it for me, with a Crane World cam, Weber sidedraft carb and other goodies. It had maybe 125 hp. Gave 240z's a run for their money though.

Your Miata having 220 hp is no joke! You will tear up most cars on the twisties, no doubt. And by the tone of your post, I suspect you can also 4-wheel drift your Miata as I did my MGB (and now my Jag) when necessary. 😂

MGs are the reason Miata exist. It's all about balance. A balanced chassis. A balance of power and handling. Good brakes and sticky tires. That's the recipe for fun! If you can find the sweet spot, you will have no problem keeping up with much more powerful cars.

4 wheel slides on corner exit... There's nothing like it!

Unfortunately, my little Mia is relegated to track duty only. It is no longer road legal. Biggest mistake I made. I should have kept it plated for the street. Now that prices for this little machines are ridiculous, I will not be getting a second one. My daily driver is a Fiesta ST with a few add ons and a tune. It's powerful enough and one of the funniest cats I have ever driven. That's saying alot. My list of fun cars include 2 BMWs and an STi. Yet the little nugget is more fun.

Yes.

It’s a Miata but for some reason it’s not listed on the badge’s anymore. ? Maybe mazda is trying to make it a little more sophisticated.

What I do know it’s wicked and a total blast to get into driver mode in.

I agree. Redlining a rotary is probably part of the reason the blow seals constantly, but you had to if you wanted to get anywhere at a reasonable rate. But such a tight little gearbox and such awesome handling.

Now. Having said that the new Miata is unreal. And the extra 20 hp they found/added in the 21’model is more than welcome. It’s not fast but it is quick if you know what I mean.

Cheers mate.

Given I recently crashed my car… perhaps I need to smash a watch on the ground to match?

NO!!!!!!

·

Ahhhh....that Foxbody Mustang! I have some of the fondest memories of a 90GT that I owned. For the time, the 5.0 ruled the roads and there were few of any factory cars that could take it in a stoplight drag race.

The Miata is different. I respect the car and those that love it, and maybe it's incredible if you mod the living crap out of it. In stock form it's grossly underpowered and really not that great handling despite its reputation IMO. My wife's last car was a 21 mx5 that had the shortest life before trade in of any car she owned. A humbling out of state freeway trip (didn't have the power to safely pass trucks, and curves at high speed required excessive wheel input to stay on the road) was the final straw. I have good memories of road trips in the 90s Miata she owned when we met, however.

Here's the best match for my car....
