My fathers Timex was a Citizen!

I explain it all in a minute but first off a special thanks to everyone who checked in on me. I'm extremely grateful. I'm doing well. To those of you who have messaged me in the last couple of days sorry I didn't respond, It's been a busy couple of days.

Ok, let's get to the post. I did a post on my fathers Timex about a year ago. It was about the search for my dads Timex after he passed away last year. I looked and looked for it but never found it. I replaced it with an Explorer ll that I bought right after he passed. I thought his watch was gone forever. Here's the original post for the background.

https://www.watchcrunch.com/whystopatone/posts/this-is-my-fathers-new-timex-43813

So I've haven't been posting much lately. Sometimes life gets in the way. Work, a remodel on the house and yard, some health issues and taking care of my mom have put WC on the back burner. With time at a minimum my mom and my first grandchild seem to be taking up any extra time I have.

I've been driving 3 hours to visit my mom for the weekend or sometimes I bring her home for a week or two. When I'm there I take every opportunity look for my dads watch. Today is no different. I drive over to her house to bring her home for the week. When I got there she was scurrying about the house doing some last minute packing and once again I take the time to look around for my dads watch. I'm looking in dressers, closets and boxes some I've looked in many time in the resent past hope to find something different. This time I'm looking in a dresser in the spare bedroom a little more thoroughly than before and I find a small metal tin in the bottom of a drawer. I open up the tin and there it is there's my fathers watch.

Image

After a year of looking I finally find his Citizen. I thought I was lost forever. I'm surprised it wasn't thrown away. I'm surprised I've never seen the tin. I was also surprised it wasn't a Timex. I'm just surprised. At this point what it is doesn't matter. It's my dads watch. It's by far the best watch in my collection. The fact I didn't loose faith that I would find it. Thank you @WabiSabiMaster for all your support and sharing your love for your father. Now, I just have to get it working so I can have dad on my wrist.

Here's a picture of my mom and dad. My blessed to still have my mom and a new piece of my Dad in my life. Love you and the watch dad.

So great that you found it Craig. That’s amazing news and a wonderful heirloom to keep a part of him with you. Perfect 👌

My Mother passed away last August. The funny thing is that we all decided to bury her with her watch on her wrist. It was so much a part of her that we all agreed it only made sense to keep it with her. Interesting how things end up isn’t it?

Congrats on finding your fathers watch!

I'm excited for you that you found it. Congratulations! Fingers crossed it's cheap and easy to get it running again. 🤞🏼

·

So glad you have this to remember him with.

·

You found a treasure my friend. Only the best wishes for your mom. It sounds to me like you are doing the things that your dad knew you would do.

Awesome! some good news after you been through. I can relate somewhat you going through. My father passed away in 2005 (pick enclosed of my dad's watch). I'm glad you found your father's watch. Wear it with pride and Joy, cherishing his memory. Cheers!

So glad you found his watch, Craig!

That has to be such a relief.

My father passed away last July so I can relate with how busy it gets trying to help mom.

Hopefully life slows down a bit & you can get some R & R.

🤝🍻

Amazing story and I’m not ashamed to say that it filled me emotion. As a side note, that is a classic and great looking watch, I would definitely wear it and show it off!

Wonderful story, Craig! Thanks for sharing 🙏✌️

Thanks Bill. My dad took off his watch when he got a cell phone. I haven't seen it in over 25 years. I think you moms watch is in its appropriate place. It is very interesting how thing work.

Hi Mike. I'm hoping it's just going to be a battery. Something has to be easy!

Me too. I thought it was lost forever. I have plenty of other really cool things that remind me of him but nothing I can wear. So this is special.

How's it going Tony. I hope so. I have a feeling in the next year or so she will be living with us and that's just fine. We built them an extra room in the house before dad passed away just for them. So, I'm hoping one of them can use it.

I hope it slows down. I didn't realize how much work it is. Don't get me wrong I'm totally grateful that I get this opportunity. I feel like I lost some time with my dads sudden passing. I'm not going to let that happen with my mom.

I can just imagine the relief when recovering your dad's watch at last. It is a treasure, a token of your everlasting bond.

Hope this the first of many good news for you.

Me too. Nothing like a watch to make you smile. For the record I like real busy and a little controlled chaos. Life will slow down soon enough. Have a good one Mauro.

My Mom and little sister are long passed but my Dad is alive at 91. Had a small stroke a year ago and has lived with us since then.

Grateful to have him with us. Has taken him some time to adjust to the loss of independence but he seems happy now.

Thank you. Mom still wants to be independent at 80 but she's struggling a bit without dad. I'm hoping she'll move in soon. We built an extra room for our parents to live in. So she has her own space. We'll see how things play out.

Welcome back Craig! Glad to hear that everything is ok! Both my parents passed away a long time ago, you are a lucky guy to still have your mom to care for and obviously also care for you. It was my sad duty to remove my own dad’s steel Rolex OP from his wrist, neither my older brother or I wanted to take possession of the watch, instead we took turns keeping it safe until my brother, best friend also passed away. My nephew who chooses to not wear a watch is the guardian of the simple steel timepiece. Looking forward to your good natured posts about life and watches! ❤️

This story is honestly so moving and beautiful. I am so happy for you to have a cherished keepsake like this.

Hi Craig,

Hope you are well, I am ok, lol. Just filed my taxes for 23, can’t believe I still have to pay the feds. Look after your mom, you are a lucky guy!❤️
