The Bambino

This is one of the first watches in my collection, I mean, when I actually realized I was becoming a collector and started buying watches with that intention. I actually love it, the design is classic and stylish and the relation price-quality is unbeatable.

Despite of that, I think Orient still doesn't have all of the recognition that it deserves although its history and trajectory in watchmaking is largely proved.

What's your opinion?

I think that Orient in general are highly under rated. Am not a dress watch guy m'self, but love the Bambino ... and your version just nails the classic look without being overdone. Spot on! 👍

Yea today I am wearing my Bambino Small Seconds iam not a dress watch fan but i love bambino

It's a classic icon and I wanted it in my collection. I don't wear it much but it's the best dress watch under £300 IMO.

My flirtation with this watch is starting to get silly. One of these days, I’ll just have to click “add to cart.”

Went through the same with my red Kamasu, and have not had an iota of regret since the purchase.

I've been curious, but my collecting habits (and horrible, slobbish nature) prevent me from buying any watch with less than 100m water resistance and a metal bracelet

Well, the nearest my watches would be to the water is when I wash my hands 😄🤷🏻‍♂️👍

Is that a Parker Jotter (or perhaps some other model) in your pocket in the first shot?

·

Im expecting (and hoping) that Orient takes advantage of Seiko's up-marketing strategy and fills in the gap of great and "actually" affordable niche that was left behind. The Bambino and their divers have already been super successful, I feel like they just need one last awesome line to really blow up!

It's my younger brothers birthday soon and I plan.on getting him a bambino. Awesome brand, my first mechanical watch was an automatic

·

Orient is such a great brand; they make good quality watches at a really reasonable price and they have a number of classic designs but also some eccentric pieces with great personality. If I had the budget for it, I'd happily fill a watch case with half a dozen nice Orients...

Well…as coincidence would have it, it IS my birthday next week!

Wearing one today.

I have that same bambino and also the defender 2 in pvd. Honestly they are both some of my favorite watches especially when I know what I paid for them. I love orient watches with plans for more in the future

·

I am a dress watch guy and I have entertained the Bambino on several occasions, just never pulled the trigger. I think overall the case sizes and odd lug widths are my biggest issues. All things considered they are indeed very nice.

Nobody had to twist my arm to make this pick up.

My next watch for sure

·

When I think of dress watch, the Bambino is probably one of the firsts that comes to my mind. If you want a classic dress watch on a budget, you cant really go wrong with the Bambino

·

I think it’s great value basically……. I like 👍🏻

I had the exact same watch but eventually let it go as it was not getting wrist time mainly because I don't wear dressy pieces much and I just could not unsee the mismatched date wheel 😭

·

They're great budget watches, but my Bambino came misaligned

·

Personally, I find most of the watch collectors tell me the same thing about when they Realised they were collecting watchers, and I quote “ didn’t know till it was too late! Next thing I knew I had 12 of them and was planning to purchase my next watch” I think it’s safe to say that this is a sickness…….and that you can definitely catch it off others! and that there is NO known cure. Enjoy 😂

Same here. 80% of my watches are dress watches. I prefer them over any other kind. But for some reason I never bought a Bambino. If it was a choice between the Bambino and Timex Marlin, I'm choosing the Marlin all day every day.

Not exactly, it's a Parker Frontier, an ink model. I've got Jotters too and I love them also 👌👌😊

I see a fair bit of Orient watches around me, most people a really happy with them 😊It’s good value for your money in opinion! I have a 38mm bambino, I still wear it over more expensive/recognized options!

Orient offer great value. They're not a technically innovative company - the movements so lauded for being "in-house" are based on a 70s design licensed from Seiko. The 7001 from memory. Nothing wrong with that, just entertaining how fixated many reviews are on their "in-house" nature.

I think their greatest contribution has been in keeping alive very affordable mechanical watches especially since Seiko have moved into the mid-market space. They did this with the Tri Star line which was designed to last for decades without service so it could be sold in developing countries where buying watch batteries was tricky.

The Bambino is a lovely classic dress watch design but it's too big for me. I do love my Tri Stars though.
