Sinn 856 or Tudor North Flag?

Help! I'm torn between these two amazing tool watches and would love some opinions.

I'm adding to my current one watch "collection" which is the nomos ahoi. Will be buying second hand, hopefully while on a trip to Tokyo coming up next week.

The Sinn is the 'practical' choice, with the GMT/UTC function and the tegimented case. Should be a strap monster. It's also probably about a grand or more cheaper.

The Tudor is the more inspired choice, possibly, with the fun pops of yellow, Tudor heritage and prestige, integrated bracelet, and first in house movement and exhibition case back. Feels like a watch that's still a bit of a sleeper but might rise in price somewhere down the line.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to lay hands on either of these, but hoping I can find them in Tokyo.

What's your pick and why?

I prefer the dial on the Tudor but the Sinn is the better watch IMO.

My opinion? Sinn.

·

The 856 is a nicer watch, even if you ignore the GMT complication.

·

I visited Tokyo last year, I purchased made in Japan watch. Nomos and Sinn is made in Germany, Tudor is made in Swiss, why purchase the watch in Japan? If you are looking for GMT watch, I suggest the one with rotation bezel, I have Maen Hudson GMT and it is around $700 include shipping.

Design. I prefer the aesthetics of the Sinn other than the face design.

Sorry! I don’t know how that happened? I must have accidentally clicked the arrow under your post. I was just trying to respond to @tubzorz in general. My bad. 😆

·

Sinn is the more interesting choice. Also has more strap options in the future.

·

I would probably go with the Sinn too. The Tudor might keep it's value better as it is out of production and it was the first watch with Tudors inhouse movement.

·

On just looks, the Sinn appeals to me more than the Tudor.

·

I owned the Sinn 856 UTC and now own the Sinn 856 without UTC (I like the simple watchface better).

They are amazing watches and fit so well on my wrist - i love to wear it, it has the perfect size for me and its really robust. The tegimented case and bracelet makes it nearly unscratchable and mine still looks like new.

I would definately recomend a Sinn - its always a good choice.

·

North Flag - the watch we all asked Tudor to make yet didn’t buy in favour of the Black Bay.

·

Tudor for me mate absolutely floats my boat.

·

Try them on. See how they feel and how they make you feel. It's about the right choice for you and your wrist.

·

In my opinion the bracelet is the key component of a watch and its quality makes or breaks the deal. I’m pretty sure the bracelet on Tudor will be miles ahead in terms of comfort and quality. Also North Flag has a good chance of becoming an iconic piece. Both are very cool but I’d go with Tudor.

·

Tudor…..always Tudor ( well in this case ) I love both but the Tudor edges the sinn out here….just for me.

·

North flag 100%

·

I own a North Flag and thoroughly enjoyed the piece. It has a better movement and is better finished than the Sinn, the only advantage Sinn has is tegimented finish, it's resistant to scratches

While both are toolish, these two really are like dogs and cats (or fish and budgies?). I own the North Flag and enjoy it (tool watches are not my priority) but I could never get into the traditional Flieger watches. One person likes scotch, the other whiskey. Which do you prefer? If the answer is both, then welcome to the Watchaholics Anonymous club. 🙂

I guess this is my gateway. Another friend had me think more in terms of which one do I want 'first', which the clear winner is the Tudor given it's discontinued. Here we go down the slippery slope! 😂😅

·

For me even though its more busy sinn dial looks cleaner strange 🤔 because its not tudor doesn't look right to me I'd go with the sinn tudor looks like a copy done badly of the sinn

·

Probably try both on first. I’d be inclined to go with the north flag though

·

Tudor

·

No Question . North Flag . First watch to get the MT5400 Movement from Kinnissi in it , Sinn gets a selita ( not bad ) which isn’t as quirky and original as the Tudor.

·

In case you haven’t seen the oem strap:

Sinn. No contest. Also lol at the Tudor OEM strap 👆

·

North Flag! They are very sought after for good reason! I like rhe Sinn also but it's the Tudor for me here!

·

I like the aesthetic of the North Flag better. There's just something inexplicable that draws me towards it, even though the Sinn is probably the better option.

I like liking a Tudor that's not a Black Bay.

·

Personally I would choose the North Flag. It has this interesting, futuristic design language that is unique. Like if the Ranger went to the year 2085.

·

Geez. That's a tough one. Even though I'm not a big Tudor fan, I really like the North Flag. I've never held one or experienced one and I've owned Sinn and love their watches, so I'll go with the Sinn on this one.

·

I would go with the 856. More options for straps and you have the GMT function.
