Gov't Warning - Watchcrunch can seriously damage your wealth...

Seriously guys, this is no laughing matter. I urge all of you to take 2 mins of your time to read, digest & make a plan that could save you from living out of a dumpster in the very near future.

This is a great place to meet & talk about a love of watches. All people welcome, all watches welcome irrespective of cost, brand, country of origin etc. A place for those that collect watches for trophies, all the way to those that MOD their Seikos (I have no idea what goes on there but I can see it's a thing).

What they don't tell you, what you're not asked to sign disclaimers for, is that this place can leave you skint & inevitably turning to crime in order to purchase that must have watch you'd never even heard of the day before. Only this morning I hijacked a bus full of pensioners, heading to their annual Christmas lunch, to empty their handbags & wallets to fund the purchase of a Seiko.

I'm not proud of this, in fact I feel deep shame. That however is put to the back of my mind easily when I look at the latest addition to my watch box. 2 days ago I didn't even know it existed. I've now become a Seiko convert, something 2 weeks ago I'd never have believed.

I'm back home from my latest crime spree/shopping trip & I'm already planning my next heist. I happened to glance at a Seiko Prospex Glacier Blue GMT for all of 30 seconds & the dopamine rev counter hit the red zone instantaneously. I'm going to leave the pensioners be for this one, I'm going full Balaclava & sawn off straight to the jewellers tomorrow, cut out the middle man.

This out of character behaviour can be put down to 2 factors. Firstly, I'm inherently flawed. Secondly, it's all of you out there that happen to reside here in Watchcrunch. Continually posting interesting & beautiful timepieces I'd never seen or considered before. My problem is your problem also 😜

Flippant as the above may appear, there's not a word of a lie in there 😀 Since joining WC in August, my purchasing has gone up & there's definitely an increase in the type of fish I don't throw back into the sea after emptying my net. This week has seen me throw out a lot of the old trophies, to clear a path for some new & interesting ones, heavily influenced by what I see & read about on here.

Any of you guys experienced anything similar? Increased purchases, new brands acquired etc?

I was a bit outraged at this upload, it felt like he's moved a step closer to click bait crap with this somewhat sensationalised clip.

Now that I'm a crim though, it's only going to get worse 😜

Almost every time I come on WC I see a brand, a watch I have never heard of, straps even, and fall in love with it ! I have managed just 3 watches this year BUT around 100 on my wish list.

You make a good point Weedge, it's not just the watches, it's the straps & other paraphenalia that suddenly become a must have!

·

Leave some pensioners for the rest of us!

·

This year has definitely been spendy 🤣

·

Aww man. Getting into Seiko is the worst thing you could have done. That's a deep, deep rabbit hole.

·

Gotta pay to play playa!!

😁

·

But did you get any good watches off of those bus passengers? 😎

·

I bought 20 watches last year, 85% of which are fairly forgettable.

Then I bought the Seiko Tuna and instituted a 'one or none' per year policy and a 'if the itch still exists after a week, buy it' policy.

The Tuna was nice & fun enough it's become my #mostworn.

I've had the itch multiple times this year, but the two policies and the realization that I wanted some nicer watches over the sub-$100 pieces has really helped me stay clean this year.

I now own many 1940's military style watches due to the malign influence of @Porthole. It is not so bad, actually.

Funny story, I was just going to LOOK at a 37mm Longines Spirit. 1800 bucks later (1900 with tax) I own one. Why isn’t the government doing something?

It's disgraceful that they sit idly by whilst mature adults devolve themselves of any peronal responsibility for their own well being & head rapidly towards death by consumerism. Honestly, they need to see beyond the Fentanyl crisis & realise this is a far bigger problem. 😕

After watching that wonderful mockudrama on the BBC about how easy it is to steal watches from rich people who deserve it, I joined a ripper gang. Obviously, I have no interest in the high-end pieces, but I can easily flog them on Facebook to fund the terrible Swatch addiction which WatchCrunch has infected me with.

Anyone also interested in becoming a member of organised crime to fund their watch addiction should watch this new BBC documentary which is currently available on iPlayer: https://www.watchcrunch.com/casiodean/posts/breaking-news-evil-boss-of-london-s-rolex-rippers-gang-exposed-270771

·

Ah, I see the problem... You're addicted to heisting.

·

Fellow WatchCruncher Warning: Gov't has damaged my wealth far more than any of my watches.

It's possible to do all three.

In America we call that tough love.

·

There is humor in this story, but also heartbreak. Pensioners unwilling to help a poor man on a bus who would have to spend his Christmas without a new Seiko. What a bunch of Scrooges.
