INVICTA?

So we know what Invicta watches look like and we see where they get their inspiration. I always hear people say "if you want to 'trick' yourself into believing you have a rolex watch or if you want a rolex lookalike get an Invicta" or " it's not a rolex but for under 100 bucks it's worth it".

I feel like people only give backhanded compliments. I want the truth. No comparison.

Is an Invicta watch good or even great?

Where does it rank with other watches within the same price range?

Is it one of the best purchase for that price?

Who is better?

Etc etc

Honesty ladies and gentlemen!

Never held one in my hand, so I won’t comment. Based on some photos, not for me. With that being said, it’s a great entry way for people to get into watches. Interestingly, I have heard an Invicta fan bash other more premium brands, stating how invicta is better.

·

Urban Gentry on YT reviews their dive watch & gives it his stamp of approval for under $100.

Now, he may or may not be getting something in return, I don't know, but his opinion would seem to hold some weight.

·

The Invicta river is a straight up homage to the Rolex Sub. It is a good watch at that price. You get a submariner aesthetic in a watch that will tell you the time. It will not be a watch that retains any value or is able to be passed down. It is disposable. It is of similar quality to other $100 watches.

Invicta as a brand makes 100s of models, most of which are ridiculous and ugly. They put MSRPs on them that are 4X their expected point of sale value. Their business model is embarrassing in my opinion.

·

Ive never had one. But then, there are a lot of other rolex homages..

·

To my knowledge Invicta is the only way I can properly give tribute to the #awesome_sauce of Warhammer40K:

I am just waiting to find either a used model, or in store at Invicta. Since really my only gripe is, IMO, it should be in the $90-120US range due to movement, etc.

·

It's a good watch in that price range. They're often on sale at $60-$80 and that's hard to beat, considering the NH35 movement inside is worth $35 alone.

If Rolex homages aren't your cup of tea, there are other Chinese brands making diver watches in the <$100 range such as Steeldive or Addiesdive, for more options.

·

I gave my Pro Diver wrist time yesterday. Cost me about £80 from Amazon 18 months ago. At the price it's a great watch, Seiko NH35 means it's a great and reliable time keeper. Quality is decent. Love it.

They are perfectly fine watches, inexpensive, decent Seiko movement that keeps good time and lots of colours and variations to choose from, however the lume on the pro divers is a bit weak (at least mine is) and the bracelet can be rattly, so you get what you pay for.

Our resident Invicta expert is @Pallet_Fork I think he's got at least two of each!

·

The Invicta Grand Diver line is a notch above the Pro Divers. They're slightly bigger, and all have the NH35A movement - no quartz. I've seen them as low as $80 and as much as $135.

Here's one in 18k gold PVD & mother-of-pearl dial:

That said, the Pro Diver line deserves respect in its own right. The one below also shares the NH35A movement with its big brothers. (They come in quartz too, and those models are less expensive, around $60.)

The lume on most of the Invicta divers is meh, but the one above looks like this and keeps its lume visible for hours:

These watches are excellent values not to be missed. There's a reason I have a bunch of them.

The price of an Invicta dive watch is often in line with one would be able to build at home with AliExpress parts. It's a very reasonable price. However, if you are not stuck to a particular design, I would say that you are by now able to get better quality at a specific price point from AliExpress brands.

But that is not really the selling point, is it? What Invicta has are all kinds of sizes and designs, some may seem ludicrous, but then again, it may be a design that someone always wanted but no brand has provided. I applaud Invicta for not being limited by "good taste", whatever good taste is supposed to mean.

·

I think they are fine for the money and great entry watches. My first real mechanical watch was a Pro Diver I bought in 2009. It worked perefectly back then and I recently wore it 14 years later and still keeps decent time and has never been serviced. The general quality of the construction is solid too. I don’t like the look of many of their gaudy looking watches but the Pro Diver always seems a great choice.

·

They seem like the "Hublot" of budget watches. Probably a fine watch, but "why?" when there are more attractive and better value options out there.

People fall to realize that an Invicta Pro Master Diver uses an off the shelf Seiko movement. To think that it is garbage is saying all entry Seiko is the same. No rational person should expect pearlage and blued screws. You will get a watch that will last many years and won't cost a car down payment for service.

Do you know if they have a diver GMT?

·

My review of one of my Invicta watches.

·

People get too caught up in brands and branding, it's really annoying and snobbish. I've held the Invicta pro diver in my hands, it's a good watch, totally solid and good looking.

·

They were an inexpensive starting point for new watch collectors. However, the coin toss level quality control and borderline Rolex sub clone design caused me to move on to objectively better and more original brands

·

The diver is the only one I have ever considered. For the most part their line up is too garish for my taste.

·

I know there are many Invicta fans out there, but I am not among them, owing to too many negative personal experiences with the brand.

When I really started collecting watches, I purchased 5 or 6 different Invicta watches. Within half a year, four of them broke, three of them in ways "not covered by warranty." The sole watch covered, which was a Pro Diver with the NH movement, was sent for repair, and I received it back with a quartz movement. After that, I was done with Invicta.

I will never criticize someone for their choices, and I am glad so many have had good experiences with Invicta. I rank them below AliExpress brands like Berny, Tandorio, Pagani Designs, or Skmei, all of which provided me with better purchasing experiences than Invicta, and far below brands like San Martin or Baltany.

·

My first mechanical watch was an Invicta. Great way to see if you like the mechanical watch thing before spending too much money. Orient or Seiko could fall 8n the category too.

·

I have a pro diver. I would say it fits the purpose for which I bought it. The case finish is just ‘ok’ but for the price I paid ($55 USD), not horrible.

Note the photo by my name. It’s a bluesy look with Snoopy and Woodstock on the dial. Seiko movement, screw down crown and 200m ( no, I’m not going to test that).

It is a perfect ‘theme park’ watch. It has been on many (many) high speed rides. Never a care at all. Good for rides where you are splashed or doused with water or even a water park.

Note, this is the watch I have got the most compliments per wear. People standing in line on a sunny day notice things and will say something when most times they don’t.

·

The pro diver seems like the exception.. oyster-style case, nh35 movement, low price.. great bargain!

The others that look like cheap u-boat clones? Yikes!

·

If you try you can find some decent Invicta's

Jump hour Seiko automatic movement

Invicta is a giant mixed bag of marbles. The pro diver is a good watch but after your tastes expand it goes deeper in the watch box. I found the pro diver a little thick for my taste, especially after wearing thinner divers. I would suggest the 1953 pro diver if you wanted to pick one up. The 1953 has a better resale value as well.

Invictas sizing makes no sense either.

Look at the ladies watches as well. There's plenty of 38mm case size with 20mm bracelets.

Yeah it's not the design or quality that bothers me, but the fake sales tactics that really bother me.

·

The issue that a lot of their designs that don’t looks like got dog shit aren’t “homages”, they’re straight up rip offs.

·

My bronze Invicta ProDiver automatic. I've never seen another. I put it on this burnt orange strap. It looks fantastic and is a real joy to wear.

·

I started my watch collecting with Invicta...twice. Once as a teen and again as an adult. I don't wear any of the Invicta watches I own anymore, just because I have other options. But I will say this, there are 2 watch brands I would recommend for someone who wants a Mechanical Automatic watch on a budget, Invicta and Vostok. Invicta just has such a negative brand issue, that even their normal watches get hate. But for the money (It's a cliche I know) you can't beat a pro diver.

With that said, they make some of the most outlandish and truly hideous watches. It's so bad I can't help but wonder if it's on purpose. The funny thing is, aside from Smart Watches and Casio, the watch brand I see the most is Invicta. They have to be doing something right.

·

I like their divers, I have a gen1 and a gen2 grand diver, I would sldo add the 1953 to my watch horde.

They’re reviled for the BIG garish models but their standard watches don’t to shabby, good movements and a decent enough finish 👍🏻
