If you knew nothing about watches...

I'm curious, if you knew nothing about watches or brands, and I put these two in front of you - which one would you reach for first?

Stylistically , the Tissot. I prefer the dial and the case. The bracelet is also a perfect match.

That integrated bracelet is on point!

·

Probably the Tissot, only because it looks a bit less dressy, polished, and shiny than the Casio.

·

The PRX just ticks so many boxes while not being overly flashy. Still very much a sports watch while being classy enough to be dressed up.

·

Neither, assuming I knew nothing about watches. I'd prefer my apple watch to either of those.

Fair.

Totally agree. I definitely like it. Should probably give it more wrist time

·

Neither, I'd be reaching for my phone to check the time.

·

The Tissot looks better but if I knew nothing about watches I'd pick the cheaper Casio 😂

·

I’d be asking them to put the toss or dial on the Casio case/bracelet.

You mean put the Tissot bracelet on the Casio dial?

·

Autocorrect more like autoincorrect

I like the tissot dial but prefer the Casio case and bracelet.

·

It would depend on the side of the PRX, but the Casio for me would be more versatile

·

I picked Tissot, but own examples from both companies 😂

If I knew nth about watches, I would think a casio looks cool and a tissot lookslike a miniature wall clock - not cool

Interesting… I never thought of it that way. 🤓

Its impossibile to ask properly 🧐

Because you can’t in-know what you know? Or…

Before I saw the pic I clicked Casio as my answer. Seeing the pic I changed it to Tissot.

That is to say - in general - Casio all the way. But for things that Casio are good at (g-shocks and the like.) In this case of course the Tissot is a much better watch in a similar style.

Interesting. That’s kind of the heart of the question. How do we ascribe “value” to an item?

Right away the Tissot looks more quality vs the Casio.

Very true. The finishing is to a much higher level… it does cost 10x what the Casio costs tho.

·

50 vs 750 quid right there 😅

Right? That was imbedded in my question. Sometimes I prefer something that’s cheaper when I know nothing about it. Then after I learn more, I switch to the more expensive “better” option.

When I knew nothing about watches I chose Casio. Had I been offered Tissot I would not have chosen it due to price. Given a choice between the two without cost to me I might have chosen Tissot because I have tended toward analog watches for a long time.

[I answered down to here without realizing there was an attached photo.]

If offered those two I would probably choose the Tissot on fit and finish.

Totally get that. I try to retain a beginner’s mind and not get too snobby. Some days I like the Casio. Haha

I recently got a quartz PRX used and they’re pretty impressive looking watches. Admittedly I haven’t handled that Casio but I’m putting my money on the Tissot.

Which dial did you get on your PRX? Does it get a lot of wrist time?

·

To be honest, you posted this on the wrong social media platform hahaha. Not many of us can give you an unbiased opinion as if we weren’t “into watches”.

Haha. Totally. It was kind of an experiment for me. Cause I had the PRX first and when that Casio came out I thought, “I think I like that dial color better…” and here we are

I can't unknow! Exactly

In the case of this Casio, though, we're talking extremely cheap. The case isn't even steel...

Silver on the dial, I like the dial on the quartz better than the automatics. I’ve had it for a week today and I think it got some time out but this isn’t going to be my daily watch. For me this is a grab-n-go quartz beater with a lot of, shall we say, flair. The PRX is a loud watch.

Ohh, nice - very classic look.

·

Tissot because of the dial color.

·

Im not a huge fan of tiffany blue, I prefer the blue of the Tissot. Also, the Casio metal looks cheaper

·

If you mean these watches, I think the casio just looks cheap, even for a casio. If brand, casio, had never heard of tissot till I got into watches
