The one watch!?

I believe most of us must grapple with the same dilemma: What is the only watch?  Does such thing exist?

Obviously no one has a model of every watch ever made and even if that was possible, there were always “numerous passions”, so in my opinion it is practically impossible to love just one watch.

At the moment my biggest passion is focused on my OMEGA Seamaster AquaTerra! I just love this magnificent watch. In terms of accuracy it is incredible, super accurate and reliable, the movement is superb. The display is multifaceted so to speak. Depending on the incidence of light, it shows a different appearance. Sometimes it feels like I have 3 to 4 different watches throughout the day 😂

In terms of scratch resistance I must say that there's nothing to be done, but everything polished is a scratch magnet, it's a fact. Bracelet options: this AquaTerra looks good with any type of bracelet 😍

In short, this is currently my watch of choice. I use it every day, for all situations, I hope it stays with me until the end of my days and  after that, one of my children continues his journey with him.

For me the one watch I would pair down to in my collection if I had to is my Sinn 556A.  That watch by far gets the most wrist time.

·

I think 'the' watch is a sports watch on a bracelet. Can be worn with a suit. Can be worn casually. Classic looks that never go out of date. The AquaTerra is a great example of such a watch. Just about every watch line does something in that vein, from $100 - $200 up. A must have. Like a woman's 'little black dress'.

·

I don’t believe in one watch. But if possible the AquaTerra would be in the race. Very nice watch.

Yes definitely a superb one watch collection the 556. It has long been a favourite of mine.

Soon to be added to my ever increasing number of pieces. One that will never leave whatever

I have given up on thinking the only watch 😓 There won't be... For once you got hold on something... It will never be enough. From Seiko to Rolex, eventually you get bored and would want to try something different. Even with the straps too. You ended up with tons of them. Maybe that's part of human nature 🤔🍻

Instead of the one watch concept I prefer the right watch concept. Instead of the one watch that's work for every job or occasion, have a small collection of the RIGHT watches for every job or occasion. Just like there isn't one perfect pair of shoes for everything, neither is there just one watch.

Edit: my pick would be a rolex explorer but the Aqua Terra is a beast and with rolex the way they are right now I'd probably end up with the omega 😅

·

it is posibble to have one watch, usually gada like this aquaterra (it is nice watch btw). but it would be fun if we have a few pieces, just so we can use on different activity. and lets be honest, i dont believe one watch guy exist in watchcrunch. lol

She’s a beauty.  I’m in love with my green one.  Have you noticed that the hands and markers seem to find and make use of the most miniscule amount of ambient light?  It almost doesn’t need lume!  Couldn’t be happier with it.  However, it would be a challenge to never wear anything different.

·

I got the Aqua Terra only 2 months ago and I share your feelings: it’s a stunning watch, I love how the colors change from blueish to blackish depending on the light  and it feels adequate on every occasion. I enjoy it so much!

having said that, it’s the first high quality watch I purchased, so I might be a little biased here :)

Also, I have come into situations where I would have found a “diver watch ring” useful. so this contradicts the ”one watch to fit all purposes” concept.

Still, i think it is a fantastic watch and is the closest thing to a one-watch-collection I’ve found so far!

That’s why I joined this forum😄. That’s also why my watches all look so different, whatever I do I’d like to have a watch that’ll work. Got a long way to go yet but part of the fun is in the journey.

I have an Aqua Terra in my collection and it gets by far the most wrist time of any watch in my collection. I love it. It's the perfect office watch and I work in an office. But I don't think it is a truly GADA watch, as others have said, the lack of a timing bezel is a bit of an issue when I'm cooking. So I tend to take that watch off and put on a diver when I get home from work.

This again… if there was one watch that did everything then we would all be wearing it wouldn’t we? You are not going to garden in a Rolex and you are not wearing your Casio Duro to a wedding.

There is also no such thing as a one watch collection - that would just be a watch.

Exactly, that's what I always say about my collection. I don't have one, it's only 4 watches including 2 heirloom pieces.

Love my Aqua Terra, Had it for 17years.  It is my go to Watford most occasions.  Just had on my wrist for a four day holiday to Northumberland.

·

The color's dial is beautiful, great choice.

It is really though to have one watch, especially when you get into watches. Personally I think the watches we wear reflects the our personality at a specific period of time and that is the beauty of it all.

·

Easy. My late Grandfather's 1966 T12 Automatic. Yes yes I'm becoming a soppy old fool in my older age but bearing in mind he gave me this when I was 11 the sheer ruggidness, sublime timekeeping and simple good looks with practcality, this one will also stay, be worn foreverand will be handed on to my boy. Just not when he's 11.

How come no one is talking about the lamp? It is the star of that picture.

Mid-century watches and mid-century furniture: where are all of the "form follows function" Bauhaus fanboys?

·

Yeah, if you were to tell me that could be my only watch, I'd be fine with it. Nice choice and one of my favorite dials ever.

That’s also a good and cool watch! 🤛🏼

I believe you are right. Marriages between us and watches are the most infidels, we may have just “married” one, but we are already courting another, or others! 😂

100% my opinion! I'd rather have about 4/5 good watches (good for me and my preferences and budget) than having an endless number of watches that I don't use or appreciate afterwards.

The green dial it’s also amazing! When i was looking at which aquaterra i was going to buy, i was very undecided between the one i have and the green one. Even today i think i am 😂😅

I think in terms of the lume there was room for some improvements, as sometimes the reading is not very direct, not right at the beginning, when visibility in the dark is great, but after a while it becomes a little challenging to identify were ir the hour hand. At least that's my opinion.

Just like me! My aquaterra is also my first luxury watch, so to speak.

I've had mine since late September 2021 and I couldn't be happier. It was a good choice. I really think this will be my favorite watch until the end of my days, for many reasons, including the fact that it was my first luxury watch 😬

What a beautiful watch, and what beautiful stories it must have to tell!

Thanks 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾

The best part of marriage between man and watches there is no paper attached other than warranty  😂  and there is no need for cyclops to read the small prints 🍻❤️

I uhh... I have both a core collection of 4-6 and an "endless" collection lol 😅

At least my "endless" watches are on the affordable side if things and were acquired as a result of the journey. I might sell them but I don't think anyone would want most of them.

I agree: find the one blurry triangle among the other blurry triangles.😀
