Wedding watch

First post on WatchCrunch. Here it goes…

I became obsessed with watch videos on YouTube during the pandemic. Had a G-Shock that I wore for years, but then got a couple of affordable automatic watches to start collecting (a Seiko 5 and an Orient Bambino), and I love them.

Got married recently. Leading up to it, I wanted to get a nicer watch for the occasion. I ended up getting a Seiko Alpinist (SPB121). Truthfully, I didn’t love the watch just seeing photos of it online, but I saw a lot of good reviews and I thought it would look good with what I would wear. But when I got it, I was hooked as soon as I took it out of the box. Bought a nylon strap for it, and I’ve worn it every day since.

The Alpinist is not just my wedding watch. For me, it’s my first significant step in collecting as it’s the most I’ve spent on a watch up to this point. It will probably be a while until I get my next watch. Just trying to be financially responsible and not get crazy, but there is so much temptation. 😜🤙

As we have sd before...this is no place for a NATO strap.  Nice choice.

Nice watch.  The SARB017 is what got me into collecting watches.

·

Congratulations and best wishes on both your marriage and your watch collection!

·

Congratulations and many blessings! Welcome to Watch Crunch on a first post!!! This is a great watch that I suspect will be in the collection for a lifetime.

·

Seiko, the gateway drug for many....

·

Congrats!! And Welcome to WC! It’s great starter for a collection!!

·

Congrats on your wedding, and welcome to the wonderful world of watches!

·

Congrats, welcome to WC, and welcome to this terrible money pit of an addiction.

·

Welcome to the watch insanity. It won't make sense to many, you'll get frustrated at some point, spend too much, and you'll even think you're crazy occasionally.

You're gonna love it.

·

congratulations on the wedding. nice alpinist 🍺

·

Welcome to WC. More importantly congrats on your big day. This is a great first pic.

·

To some it's a count down tool in their sentence. To most it marks time too fast in a loving journey they don't want to end.

·

Well done and congratulations on both fronts!

·

I gotta say that I was not expecting this kind of response for my first post on WC. All of you are great. Really glad I found this online community. 🙏

·

Welcome to WC and congrats on the wedding. As great as this hobby can be, make sure that you always keep it in perspective - your marriage is way more important than any watch will ever be.

·

Buy a Patek Phillipe and get out of that marriage quickly.  lol

Congrats on the wedding.  Mine was 8 years ago this month (the 13th).  I wore my JLC Master Control Date, which I had received following my law school graduation 3 years earlier:

Sweet watch

·

Congrats I were Casio on my last wedding.

·

Congratulations on your wedding. And congratulations on acquiring your Alpinist.

I wore my submariner and my wife wore a date just for our wedding. That was the only watch I had that was tied to an event. I tried very hard to associate an event to a watch but the fact of the matter is…I can’t wait for an event to happen to get my next watch 🤣

My cousin wore a Submariner for his wedding, my co-worker got married recently and her husband wore a Casio Edifice Chrono (white face). I think it's kind of cool that people are picking watches suiting their styles/personalities or have some special meaning to them for their wedding watches, rather than automatically picking a traditional dress watch because "you're supposed to" (not to shade anyone who does, I like dress watches a lot myself).

Congrats, welcome to WC, and nice shot! 🍻
