Who else sleeps with their watch on?

Anybody else sleep with their watch on? I honestly just feel off/naked if I attempt to go to sleep with a watch not on.

I often switch to my Navigator because of it's tritium tubes... 🤣

I always sleep with my watch on. If I've been wearing a watch without decent lume during the day, I sometimes switch to a well lumed watch at night. If I happen to wake up in the middle of the night, I like to be able to find out the time with a quick glance at my wrist rather than fumbling for my phone on my bedside table.

I completely understand and agree.

Always and for many years.

My bedtime watch is usually a Timex with Indiglo.

·

I wear the Garmin 945 while sleeping (sleep tracking + silent vibrator alarm)

·

Most of the time. Sometimes it comes off though (bracelet).

At the risk of taking this topic too far....I always sleep with my watch on, but "have" to take it off while love making is taking place. Is it just me lol

I hate the light from my phone, and the high likelihood that I'll knock it onto the floor whole reaching for it.

A watch that is always available is the easiest solution for me.

@foghorn, I used to swear by Indiglo(still do for digital watches), but I like the convenience of not needing both hands to tell the time...

@Baron_Tom gets it. 🤣

Depends, usually with a comfortable thin and light watch if I'm at home, lumed watch while away. Timex with indiglo is a perfect all round never to get off the wrist (expect for swimming, not really a fan of wet nato straps). Casios also.

TBH i have been thinking alot about this recently. I have a friend that wears his huge breitling to sleep. but i cant bring myself to do it. even with a more comfy watch cause i feel like it just doesnt belong in bed. feels weired. i get the whole "not needing a phone" thing. mabye its just cause it would be the only thing i wear while sleeping...sorry if to much information. 😂

Yes. I wear my watch 24/7 I think the safest place for any watch is on your wrist.

·

I wear a Seiko 5 in a soft single strap (crown and buckle chevron).  It's odd, but I sleep better with it on.  I don't have to reach over, pick up my phone, and fire up a million neurons from the colors of a back-lit screen.  Nor do I have to engage in the inner debate of whether to do so.  I just open one blood-shot eye and look at my wrist. 10 of 10 recommend sleeping with a thin watch on a soft strap.

Agree, although at my age it’s all but a distant memory.

·

I got my first watch on my 6th birthday. since that day, I’ve had a watch on all the time, night and day. I only take it off to bathe. I’m a pretty old guy now.😁

Rarely… in fact I fell asleep with it on last night and woke up irritated  enough to take it off.

I have a watch that I put on and wear to bed at night; my G Shock GWM5610. I hate waking up at night and not knowing what time it is.

"A nod's as good as a wink to a blind man!" 🤣

Sometimes when i'm to lazy to take it off (yes, one can be that lazy). But i like to have my G-shock (since it's the only watch i own that i consider not to need any kind of storage 😂) near my bed to look at the time during the night without having my cellphone blast light in my eyes.

The only time that I have slept with a watch on was when I had a bronze San Martin watch that I wanted to see how fast I could get it to patina.

When I'm in a hotel, I do like to prop up a well-lumed watch next to the bed on the night stand though.

I can't imagine wearing a watch for bed. Why would you? I have a five quid digital clock on my bedside table if i need to know the time. Surely if you've a leather strap on the watch it's going to spoil quicker and theres always a chance you might catch the crown on something and possibly damage it????

We all like what we like.

The reason I sleep with a watch is four fold.

  1. Spent 20 years in the military in combat arms and always had to have a watch on. So if I'm not wearing a watch I feel off.
  2. If I wake in the night I don't have to roll over and raise up to see the time on a clock.
  3. When traveling. Air/Train or Hotel I always have my watch on. You always don't have a clock readily available when traveling. Then there's the security of having it on you.
  4.  Light. I hate external light sources in a room when going to sleep.  The watch even with phenomenal lume fades to a mellow glow that ends up uder the covers.  I just raise my arm slightly withou havin to roll over and there's the soft soft glow of the time.

As for leather. It is incredibly resilient and long lasting. That is if you properly care and maintain it. I have leather straps on a dive watch and my saltwater fly fishing pliers sheath is leather. Both have been exposed repeatedly to saltwater and still look new. Shoes and boots are made of leather and undergo horrendous day to day treatment. Yet they are just fine. Just insure you clean use preventive and treat your leather regularly and it will last decades.

In 30 years of sleeping with a watch on I've never damaged one. This includes while on recon missions in the Middle East and Bosnia during arduous conditions.

So while sleeping with your watch on isn't for everyone, this is why I do. Ciao

I sleep with a watch on but mainly out of fear that I’ll knock it off the nightstand if I leave it there.

·

yes lol
