Yeah, it depends on the watch, but I'd likely try to get it fixed. If that's not possible, I'd repurpose it in some way. I definitely wouldn't throw it in the trash.
Unless the watch was cheaper to replace than repair (F91W,Ali Express) I'd likely toss it. I don't have the dexterity, eyes, or patience to even attempt a repair.
Anything else needing a repair goes straight to a trained professional.

None of the dozen+ watches I own cost over $500. I’d be torn about having any of them fixed outside of warranty.
The main reason I got into this hobby was because I was sick of the smartwatch throwaway culture. I suppose selling it on eBay for parts is a way to avoid that…

Depends on what I paid. I'm not a watchmaker so I would never open it up to try and repair it.

Same as with a broken down car. Open it up, look at it like I know what I’m doing. Then go to a shop to get it fixed.
Casio, try to fix or replace.
Anything else, have it fixed.

Depends on the watch I think... 4R36? Just replace it myself with an off the shelf NH36. Something nicer? Watchmaker for sure...
If? I have one awaiting repair right now.
D,
Bust the crown off my nicest watch sent it to manufacturer for repair. Had it serviced at the same time.
B first... Then A 😜
Take it to a watchmaker
Not a lot of people can take it to a local shop, hardly any independent watchmakers now. In Scotland there are perhaps 2 in the whole country.
D) nothing, and vent on WC… attribute it to shitty QC, or blame the brand for something else. We’ve all got problems, right? Thats why we’re here.

I never had any issues cause most of my watches are cheap. there a few I fixed before 2 out of 5. The rest I just scrap it or us it for future mods.
