Smooth or Fluted Bezel ?

Strange you chose one of the most hated people on the planet to represent the watch you love 🤔

The DJ with fluted bezel in what I think of when I think Rolex and/or luxury watch. So fluted, always. My only Rolex is a 36mm DJ blue dial with fluted bezel - very much the only Rolex I "had" to have.

I do love Zuck !He's someone who does big things and I really respect a guy for that. I'm not so into people who go around bashing these kinds of figures.

I went for the smooth bezel and jubilee braclet, in my opinion it makes the watch less dressy and more versatile specially if you want to put the watch in a different strap in the future , with that being said the fluted bezel is definitely unique to rolex and iconic.

Up until maybe 3 months ago Id say fluted and its not even close, but then I looked into it a little more. White gold is not the most durable metal on earth and I never want to be the person who is babying a watch. On the flip side of that, spending $10,500 on a watch and destroying the bezel on a table or wall or something would drive me nuts. THEN I found another fluted bezel watch in a much more durable tungsten, insert the Omega Globemaster. But Omega doesnt scratch the itch that the crown does, does it? SOOOOO I'd either go Rolex DJ smooth or OP. This would be an easier decision if Rolex made a Jubilee bracelet for the OP like on the bezel-less black bay.....

Unpopular opinion: Fluted looks like cheap 70’s costume jewelry.

I just wanted to comment that "Just as everyone looks better with a beard (Bois, mind you), so does a Rolex with a fluted bezel" and then I've seen that picture.

The biggest thing everybody thinks he did he didn't even do so there is that. Yes there are tons of haters out there that just hate anything they don't have. But rolex and zuck both have earned their hate and it's not from their success. For the record I don't hate rolex by the way but understand why some people do.

So crazy to run across this post just now, I’m in an airport lounge debating whether or not to engage with another patron who’s is wearing what I have ascertained is a smooth bezel Date Just, still haven’t pulled the trigger, but I had to look it up because I thought the date just only came with a fluted bezel. So, for me who just learned this fact..I think I have to say fluted….it just doesn’t seem right without it.

Pie pan fluted is hideous. Smooth all the way.

Bet the success of Rolex is less the issue and that the focus is more on the often times questionable audience they sell to. Zuck brought the world all the negativity of social media, so here were rather looking at a questionable product than a doubtful set of clients.

I couldn’t agree more. I personally think the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet is too sparkly and flashy for my taste. A nice OP on 3 link or Explorer I or II is more my speed.

Fluted bezels just look so much more like a date just than a smooth bezel with an oyster bracelet. The latter i associate with OPs. It’s gotten to a point where, now that there’s so much crossover, I don’t understand why there is even a distinction anymore other than for holding on to a historic trademark.
