I don't talk to anyone who wears watches except through this app. In person, my watches are just for me to enjoy and to annoy my family when I explain some watch thing they don't care about.
I personally would be very worried if a girl who's not an enthusiast knows the watch I'm wearing. Usually that screams waking up butt naked with no watch and no wallet.

No one in my experience will ever notice your watch; no one cares. If you find someone interested in you because you are wearing an expensive watch, run very fast in the other direction. Well, unless it's a watch collector, then feel free to nerd out.

People care, and notice. Whether they tell you or not is an entirely different thing.
Men wear brands that signal to other men, just like women wear brands that signal to other women. As an example, how many men know the difference between a Kate Spade, Coach, or Louis Vuitton bag?
What both groups notice about the other is when someone looks "put together", or looks like they don't care about how they look. Guess which one is more likely to elicit positive responses from both groups. 😉
Yeah, this is it. People DO notice. They might not know what exactly you have or even care . . . and certainly not care enough to say anything, but human beings all make subconscious snap judgements based on several factors. We might not like to admit it, we all do this. Businesses do it the minute someone walks in. People know that certain visual cues play a role in making first impressions at a meeting or interview.
