Looks good.

I'd prefer a strap option though.

·

Love the colors he's offering. Looks great!

·

I like the Adventurine. This is bad timing, Nodus is coming with the GMT Contrail in a few days.

What to do?

I don’t want to get 2 watches this month. 🤔

·

I like the Aventurine but the orange fumé is beautiful

Go for it !!

Oooo, that's nice! 😍

·

That green Malachite! Massage my flesh jewels with fantastical vigor won’t you!

·

Really nice. I like the black dial version. Great job by Jodi.

·

It was a buy for me, I ordered the malachite. The different dial options look great. I might grab a different dial option down the line as well if I like it. The price point is surprisingly friendly for a miyota hi-beat watch and I like the dial layout/design

The malachite is stunning

I would have preferred to not have a chapter ring. In my opinion these cheapen the watch. I know Grand Seiko does them too, and I dislike it every time. If the markers are printed on the dial it tend to look better. You may have to make the watch/dial a bit smaller or the date window will be too far on the inside then. Likely not an issue as most watches tend to be huge anyway 😅

*pulls out credit card* 🤣

I like the green fume and Aventurine - they’re all quite nice though.

·

What I like about this is that he clearly understands what buyers want, and he's hitting all the marks. Says good things about his future releases.

Is the crown screw down?

Yes

·

Love it especially for the $. Lots of dial choices. The aventurine is my fave but all are very attractive. Taste is very individual. I don't understand the criticism of being derivative. Almost all normal watches are derivative. At least normal people can afford these without streching.

I don't get this... Folks on here are making post after post telling us they're sick of generic designs and that homages are evil but then flock to and praise these? Good for him, he's making bank. But they are, to me, generic, boring and derivative of most watches out there. Or is it really just because he is the shouty white youtuber with a massive cult like following singing his praises that people are lapping this up? There are some weird dynamics going on here lately... But hey, buy what you like 👍

💯 Good for Jody, it’ll sell.

But this does nothing for me, and looks like so many other generic and rather boring watches out there. I guess I’ll wait for his 3rd watch to see something special/unique.

I'm a fan of sport watches. I think I just like the shape/style. Generic? Yes. But i think that is what I like about them, they can be worn with anything, and for any occasion. I've pre ordered the White enamel. I was tempted with the Adventurine, but wondered if it would look like a watch with Glitter? I will probably regret my decision later. It would be nice to be able to just buy both.

·

Overall v good. Not sure why the ascent name is required on the dial.

How does a chapter ring cheapen the watch?

It leaves the impression that the manufacturer couldn't be bothered to print the markers on the dial. In case the dial has texture/pattern printing may not be easy and result in misprints, in which case the whole dial needs to be "thrown away". If a chapter ring is used this is much less of an issue and therefore cheaper. It can also be used to hide rough edges on the dial.

Of course this may all be in my head, it's an opinion, not a fact 🍻

I went for the aventurine with the recent Zelos Blacktip and it’s great but it can be a bit blingy in the right light.

Was initially drawn to the Ascent aventurine but just not sure it’s that kind of watch for me. I suspect understated might have more enduring appeal.

Aventurine might be a passing fad. Certainly I don’t think it warrants much of a premium as it’s a man made concoction (unlike MOP, abalone, malachite, etc.).

Hopefully there’ll be a few more reviews available before the orders close. Peter Kotsa’s photography is always amazing and I expect he is up next so we should get some good shots from him of all the models to help choose.

I will look forward to the reviews also. Peter Kotsa's videos are always great, However I will be watching all the reviews.

Jody seems to be getting a bit of stick for boring/ generic designs. However he has a new business and has to appeal to the widest audience possible. They also have what I consider to be pretty competitive pricing. I am glad they have given us lots of colour options, and imagine more innovative designs may follow with future releases.

I was recently tempted with the San Martin Adventerine dial at the last Ali Express sale, but have several dark or black dialed watches, so went with the Marble version. After all the hype of how good San Martin finishing is I was curious to see just how good they really were. For the price, I was not disapointed. Now that I have a couple of White dialed watchs in my collection, perhaps an adventerine dial may not be that far off in the future.

Very much agree. (And I am generally an SM fan although prefer their own designs to endless copies, however well done.)

Think Erebus are sound to stick to broad appeal and competitive pricing given that’s Jody’s heartland. Maybe down the road they can take a risk or two but early on doesn’t make sense. And there will always be critics whatever anyone does!

I wasn’t really in for another watch but I have long admired the SARB Seiko watches - although the crazy current pricing puts them beyond sensible consideration - and the Ascent seems to rub shoulders with the SARBs but with better bracelets, improved lume and I think perhaps a more interesting case shape so I am somewhat interested - esp. in PK’s footage.

Only real improvements I could see are a more detailed minute track (see SARB) and a capped pinion but those are personal preferences rather than criticisms.

WatchCruncher: I’m never influenced by reviews and YouTubers’ opinions.

Also WatchCruncher: JOMW has just released a new watch which he tells me is fantastic! Buy! Buy! Buy!

·

Stellar looking, I've ordered the Purple Helix

·

Great specs for the price.

I bought a Henry Archer Vesterhav a month ago, similar specs and movement and I thought 449 usd for it was a great value, so I think they are onto something here.
