GMT under $5k (7’ wrist but prefer smaller sizes)

Hey wonderful people of WatchCrunch. I’ve been afflicted with a severe case of analysis paralysis. You know that wall that smacks you in the face after months of relentlessly trying to figuring out exactly which watch is the BEST choice? Yup, it’s flattened my nose.

Because obviously the decision has to be perfect, taking into account every micro variable imaginable (and some unknown unknowns). The number of times I’ve thought I’ve figured it out and made plans for the next morning to pick up the watch and then woken up more confused than before is incredibly embarrassing.

So like all smart people, I’m creating a poll to get people I don’t know to make a very important life decision for me. Over to you.

I also want a watch that will not only last me a couple of decades but also still be a relevant brand.

Check out Grand Seiko.

The 9F86 quartz is a marvel. This one, a SBGN003, gains less than a second a year.

Only just come across Zulu, but looks sensational. You defo need to try both on. Take pictures on the wrist. Some watches just “fit” . Ask yourself which will make you feel special. Maybe Tudor is more of a brand flex? This isn’t a rational choice, go with what makes you feel special, or the one. You can’t wait to show your mates.

Grand Seiko SBGE255 GMT Check out Monica Barrett at Righttime Watches in Denver CO. She ships anywhere. The watch & others mentioned will be in your budget.

Seiko is putting out some limited editions of an Alpinist GMT next month. Those are hot!

The white dial SPB409 especially.

I love this watch and have a few Alpinist but that price for a Seiko is iffy at best.

I know! The price is getting into WTF territory. But that design!…

Longines! This week I was at an AD to try this beauty, wonderful Spirit Zulu Time. I would pick the black one.

The L2L on Longines 41mm wears long. And the BB 41 wears like a massive chunk of steel with very flat case.

When you want an award winning name that transcends watchmaking, the fit and finish of a master jeweler, luxurious Italian design mixed with Swiss technical prowess all in a piece you'll most likely never see another person wearing.

From $2K preowned on a rubber strap to $5K new on a metal bracelet. Quite possibly my next major watch purchase.

I love how wild and weird this thing is. I have many times added to cart or hit the 'watch' button on eBay. Just haven't pulled the trigger. Awesome suggestion

I’d like to know if the results of this pole have helped shape a decision in anyway?

I’d go with the Tudor…🤞🏼

I Love the "wild and weird" description. Bulgari isn't trying to make a watch for everyone however if one of their unique offerings hits you just right then it can be all waterfalls and rainbows.

My early watches were conservative choices that bordered on boring but I want my next chapter(s) to reflect a grateful to be alive exuberance.

In the hunt lies much of the fun, enjoy yours! Here are some other Bulgari watches on my short list.

Either the Tudor BBPro (which I own) or a Grand Seiko GMT Quartz.

The BBPro is 39mm.

Before purchasing the BBPro, I was just in love with the Longines Spirit Zulu Blue dial but it was too big. Then, I was very happy that they announced the 39mm but I did not like it. The 42mm got shrunk to 39mm and all the aspect was maintained BUT look at the concentrations of numbers. Too many numbers in that space so I ended up learning that for me the numbers in a 39mm watch could not be both on the dial and on the bezel. The BBPro or the GS GMT only have numbers on the bezel.

I would’ve preferred the one this replaced. But very nice watch.

I really appreciate the help and support folks! :)

The spirit Zulu GMT I think might be the best value out there atm. I was in a similar position where I was really contemplating which GMT watch to add to my collection. But the Longines just edges it. In terms of price, different colour/strap configurations, the amazing deployant strap and quick release bracelet, the 100m water resistance, COSC certification and ceramic bezel insert. It really sits in a class of its own.
