Two come to mind immediately for me:

Damasko DS30 - Gets overshadowed by the Sinn 556 line, but to my mind is the better pick.

Image

Marathon Navigator - It's quartz, so many turn up their nose at it, but it is a hell of a watch for not a huge amount of money.

I couldn't agree more. Several of their models I would LOVE to have and for some reason don't get attention.

I don’t understand why there isn’t more love/talk for the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro Diver. Maybe there aren’t enough out there in the wild??? Almost perfect in every way. The bracelet drapes like chain mail. The lume is magical.  ❤️ I can only come up with two concerns. The crown could be machined just a tad sharper and the choice of a butterfly clasp.

I have both and love them for different reason's. I can't say I'd pick the Damasko over the Sinn, but I definitely wouldn't be selling my DS30 anytime soon that's for sure, love this watch.

As for the Marathon, excellent quartz watches that are as tough as a G-Shock, but just don't get the love that they deserve, I highly rate mine.

I think I've mentioned this to you before but that Hanhart is one of my grail watches, I drool every time I see it here or on my AD's website. 🤤

The Glycine in the Khaki green I've seen a number of times on Gnomo's and Ashford"s for a really cheap price, I think it's because it's the 36mm, which I'm hesitant to buy, not because of the colour but the size may be a little small especially for a diver, a dress or casual watch in 36mm would be fine I'm just not sure about a diver.

·

I think the whole Certina brand seems to get ignored but everyone who’s got one of their watches really likes it me included.

Zenith El Primero, anyone of the 6500 versions of this chronograph.  I don't understand why people buy Daytonas and Speedmasters over this.

The lugs are too long for my liking. But I can't argue with any of your other points.

I agree with the Zenith. My preferred choice would be the A385 revival with the cappuccino dial and the ladder bracelet. I also think the Omega Constellation with the linen dial is severely underrated.

The Hanhart definitely my grail watch as well. I can almost say the same about the glycine airman two underrated watches with huge military background. As far the Glycine combat sub for under 400 bucks Swiss made, Swiss movement for a diver is a bargain.

I’ll give you three that’ll win your next watch meetup, because good chance no one will have seen one in the metal before and will be blown away when they do. Especially since all are under $5k.

Sartory Billiard. Amazing bespoke time pieces by a top maker at a great price.

Image

Horage. For the money they remain a hell of a value. Will likely be my self gifted Xmas present.

Image

Lundis Bleus Similar to Sartory, Tremendous craftsmanship and you can get a bespoke piece by one of the most talented makers around.

The Revival needs more love. If I was in the market for a Zenith, I’d pick it everyday over the Chronomaster.

When it comes to high end dress watches, I don't think that Chopard is getting enough credit. Pic: L.U.C. 16/1860.

I also have a strange fondness for Patek's Neptune line; both the elegant and the objectively weird (one might even say: outright ugly) model:

(the weird 5085)

(the beautiful 5081)

I don't have a watch that fits that but maybe a Watchmovement.

The Seiko VH31 Mechaquartz

Its a quartz that ticks 4 times per second. I think its awesome to have the reliability and thinness of a quartz with the 4 ticks per second that makes it look vintage cool.

I don't understand why seemingly very little watch manufacturers even microbrands use this. Would choose it over a normal quartz any day

·

For me, it could be the Giorgio Galli S1.

Image

I know Timex is getting much love here but most of the time it has a friendly-cheapo brand image. This S1 is way over that, being at the same time dressy and sporty, versatile and comfy on the wrist. The case shape is incredible and it's a strap monster. The only cons are that it could have a better WR (100m would be great) and a less noisy rotor that ruins the high end vocation of the watch.

Apart from that it has everything I could ask for the perfect GADA watch

The seiko samurai, all the attention seems to be on the turtles, but to me the samurai beats the turtle in looks (never did like the off set crown, but that's my opinion), a functional, robust and reasonable priced watch, might never be a classic but its my sleeper and I have 3 of them.

The Tudor North Flag never took off despite great design and specs IMO resulting to its early discontinuance. But I really love this piece. And its rather rarity is very appealling to me.

Another vote for Tudor NF. Simply amazing. Quirky and pretty.

I know Horage thanks to the most affordable European tourbillion ever made. Or maybe the second most affordable now that Celine has chimed in.

I second that. Everytime I look at my Escapement Time "King Seiko homage", I can't help but wonder why the VK31 isn't WAY more common - and especially why Seiko isn't pushing this movement in their own catalogue. Are there even date or day-date versions of this? Never heard about it. Would be such a brilliant foundation for a strong lineup of related movements.

But maybe the VK31 is too good and Seiko doesn't want it to cannibalize on their other low-tier movements?

I just received my first Ingersoll watch and man, am I impressed.  Waterbury and Ingersoll were the companies that became the U.S. Time Company and later became Timex.  Today, the Ingersoll Watch Company is currently owned by Zeon Watches, a British subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based company Herald Group. The brand originated in the United States of America in 1882.  TIMEX Group announced earlier this month on July 20th, 2018 that they would be taking over product distribution for watch brand Ingersoll.

1. Everything made by Zenith in the last 25 years that ISN'T an El Primero chronograph. Especially their "Elite" in-house movement (cals. 650, 670, 680 etc.) 3 hand dress watches.

2. Anything made by Girard Perregaux in the last 25 years with their in-house cal. 3xxx movements or the newer 033xx movements including their 1945 watches, older Richeville models, older Classique/Classique Elegance and newer 1966 pieces.

3. Just about anything made by Jaeger LeCoultre since the 1980s that ISN'T a Reverso. Their ultra-thin Master Control Watches and Polaris sports watches.

With any of those watches, you are getting quality approaching that of the holy trinity (without the hand-finishing of AP, VC and Patek) for less then the price of a pre-owned Rolex.
