What’s your favourite lyrics on time?

‘Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day

Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown

Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain

You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun’

Time, Pink Floyd

Beat me to it 😉

Excellent choice.

"Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose - the more that things change, the more they stay the same " 👍🏻

Love this song, and Rush. The Pershing' s Own army band tribute to Neil Peart version is fantastic.

Time adjacent:

"But I know we can't all stay here forever

So I'm gonna write my words on the face of today"

·

your time is up my time is now, you can't see me my time is now😜 (john cena intro)

As already mentioned, Time by Pink Floyd and Time Stand Still by Rush are two songs with great lyrics about time. I also love the concert opening line of Morris Day and the Time; "What Time Is It?"

·

Literally the moment I saw the title I thought of time too haha, though my personal favorite is the next verse

So you run and you run to catch up to the sun but it's sinking

Racing around to come up behind you again

The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older

Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death

(Probably not word for word perfect but you get the point)

·

I like “Caugth somewhere in time” by Iron Maiden where time is referenced as an epoch or specific period, rather than time to act, time of my life and similar

·

This how we do it, where I'm from

I'm thuggin' in the club until I see the sun

Shine on my face, got the gun on my waist

Walkin' to my escalade, tell them niggas I'm not afraid

To let the nine sing out, it can ring out

·

If I could save time in a bottle The first thing that I'd like to do Is to save every day 'Til eternity passes away Just to spend them with you...

·

One of my very favourite musical verses. 👍

Turtles All the Way Down (Sturgill Simpson)

So don't waste your mind on nursery rhymes

Or fairy tales of blood and wine

It's turtles all the way down the line

So to each their own 'til we go home

To other realms our souls must roam

To and through the myth that we all call space and time

No time - trying to get a watch repaired

No time - never got a thing to wear

Hear the ringin' of the telephone no no

Hear a ringin' in my head now

No such thing as tomorrow, only one two three go!

Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head

Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head

Time - got the time tick-tick-tickin' in my head

Tickin' in my head, tickin' in my head, tickin' in my head

: “Got The Time” by Joe Jackson (also, improbably, but wonderfully, covered by Anthrax)

That anthrax version is great

Time, flowing like a river

Time, beckoning me

Who knows when

We shall meet again, if ever

But time keeps flowing

Like a river to the sea

Goodbye my love

Maybe for forever

Goodbye my love

The tide waits for me

Who knows when

We shall meet again, if ever

But time keeps flowing

Like a river (on and on)

To the sea, to the sea

'Til it's gone forever

Gone forever

Gone forevermore

Goodbye my friend

(Goodbye my love)

Maybe for forever

Goodbye my friend

(Who knows when

We shall meet again)

The stars wait for me

Who knows where

We shall meet again, if ever

But time keeps flowing

Like a river (on and on)

To the sea, to the sea

'Til it's gone forever

Gone forever

Gone forever

Gone forever now

Forevermore, forevermore
