Use of the word "need" is, I think, the source of the fundamental disconnect. Zero people need an Apple watch, just as zero people need a smart phone. Most of these items are luxuries we're privileged to enjoy.

I am really impressed that the owners of Ball have somehow kept a historical American brand alive with a completely unique design language that is somehow absurd yet classy at the same time. They deserve some real credit for carving out a niche. A Ball is a must for my collection.
