Just an average desk-dwelling code monkey with an EDC obsession and a fledgling collection of basic, affordable watches. I'm a sucker for silver-tone dials. Catch me on the Best Damn EDC Discord server.
Reddit was responsible for sparking an interest in several gadget-based preoccupations, including watches which I was already predisposed to from my youth.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Timex Expedition Atlantis
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
An Internet friend promised to sell me his used but well cared for Hamilton Khaki at a very favorable price. Unfortunately he was living out of the Country at the time and the watch was in storage in the US. I waited over two years but he eventually returned and sold it to me. It was worth the wait for my first Swiss mechanical.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Don't go overboard right away. Experiment at the affordable end to determine what you like and what features and characteristics work for you and your lifestyle. Then you can start moving your way up.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Ball
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
IWC Pilot's Chronograph - Since childhood I have been preoccupied with aviation and fighter jets and this has carried over into my love of watches. In my opinion this watch is the perfect intersection of utility, elegance, beauty, precision of engineering, and understated class.
