What would you do?

Was thinking about trading in my Rolex GMT Master II 116710LN and Daytona 116523 two tone for the solid gold Daytona 116528. In two minds weather it’s worth doing the trade… if cashflow was not an issue I would keep the 116523 also…

Hell no! Are you mad?! 😂

Seriously though, I’m not telling you what to do, but there is no way I’d trade your GMT alone for the gold Daytona let alone both your watches for it. But, the heart wants what the heart wants.

Thanks James. Appreciate the response. Posted here as not convinced myself I want to do the trade.

Would you actually wear the solid gold one? And would you feel safe with it? The go for it.

I know I wouldn't do it. But also I'm far from owning even a stainless steel Rolex. 😁

I would wear the solid gold -it’s safe in 🇦🇺 just not sure the trade stacks up for me… and I do really like my 116523

·

I would never. Your LRN is the perfect GMT and is so underrated.

·

How much extra would you have to pay for the gold? Or is it an even swap?

·

I'm not into the GMT at all, but it doesn't make sense to me to lose a watch you obviously like in order to just upgrade another that you have. If you were trading them both in for a totally different watch (eg Patek) I could understand it, but this doesn't work for me.

Oh man. Oh man. I love these questions. But most of the stuff I see on here they’re no-brainers. This is a tough one.

Honestly, the gold one is pretty fire. Take it with a grain of salt that I’m in my gold phase, but at the end of the day, I like it better than your two-tone.

It’s giving up the GMT that gives me pause

I’m going to say No on this one and I’m all about trading up

Big facts I agree

·

I'm a big fan of the 116710LN. I'd keep it.

·

I mean, you'll regret selling at least one of them and then spend more pre-purchasing... so, no, probably not

·

I much prefer the 116523, and the GMT is really nice too! I can see why you are drawn to the 116528, it is a nice compliment and contrast to your AP chrono

·

HELL to the NO MATE!!! The GMT is a classic and special. The two tone you have enough gold to BLING out with. Don't do it man!

·

You only live once. You have experienced the gmt and two tone. I say go for it now and experience the full gold. Unless you have strong sentimental attachment to the other two.

Not only cash flow - don’t want too much money tied up in watches and you can only wear one watch at a time😁

That is true for anyone who has a watch collection.

GameNWatch

I would never part with that two tone personally. Its beautiful.

Thank you Ethan

·

Hmm … tough one for me cuz I just got this…

And I love it!! Ok ok I said I love it!!

What’s not to love? It’s an awesome piece🖤💚

Solid gold is very heavy and will upset the comfort level. The flex has to be worth it.

I actually prefer to feel the presence of a watch on my wrist🇨🇭💛

Would stick with the GMT master unless you’re a 70 year old golf player that spends most of your time at the country club or Jason Derulo

Full gold Rolex watches imho definitely exudes presence (and not in a negative way) over two-tone or stainless steel variants... but I agree with @WristCounselor the GMT is the one that also gives me pause........ although my experience of a full gold Rolex was that it just lifts the watch wearing experience a level up from two tone/stainless steel but not something I could wear on a daily basis... just my two cents 😅

Thanks for the comment - I do love the full gold Submariner with blue dial - it’s a classic and wins hands down over the two tone - I do see your point that it’s not a daily - but it’s a beautiful watch💛💙

Keep the GMT, sell the Daytona, get yourself something less obvious from the holy trinity.

·

Don't do that. What you have are much better looking pieces. The all gold, in my opinion, just looks tacky

Something less obvious? What do you mean?

The Daytona is a pretty mainstream grail watch. It is an undeniably good watch, don't get me wrong. But there's a lot more out there to discover. Lange, VC Overseas, AP..

I have to agree - Daytona is mainstream and Rolex is common but they make some great watches🩶 I love AP🇨🇭🖤💛🇨🇭 as you can probably see by some of my other posts.
