We see things differently!

The watch community is awesome! So many fantastic people to meet on the forum and in real life. But we are not one community, we are several. Different camps, only united by an external enemy like the heathen non watch people, or continious price increases from the manufacturers.

Such a relief that we appreciate things so differently. The alternative would be so uniform and boring. Now one persons favourite brand is on the next persons bottom list. Busy dials vs simple 3 handers etc. The watch Universe has room for everyone of us.

We come from different geograhy, with different age and situation in life. We are individuals and that individuality creates some contradicting statements in our threads. All of them very true from the beholders of course, but proof of our differencies. One of my favourite of the re occuring ones is

”It’s impossible to get hold on a Submariner! They are nowhere to be found”

vs

”I used to own a Submariner but now you see them everywhere. So I let it go”

Must be so many more of these to be shared on a Friday?

Have a great Weekend!

You mean something like: Did the new millennium begin in the year 2000 or 2001? Of course, everyone knows it began in 2001!

·

Well said, Per. We all have our own preferences and don’t always need to stand on top of a soapbox to let everyone know about it.

What I do love to see is informational posts, visual candy, and eye-opening things about any and every maker that I can file away into my neverending vacuum void of a mental filing cabinet.

Enjoy the weekend, Crunchfam!

Well done!

I think the point is, we all love watches, we’re bound to have passionate opinions and argue a bit but it’s all in good faith 🤞🏻

·

Great post, but that pic is messin' with my mind 🥴😂

·

Well said my friend 😂and Pluto is a planet that looks like a dog 🤪👍

·

I like to see not only watches, but the owners using their watches out and about, so that we get to know the other members as people and not just watch owners. It adds color to the watch collecting community. Members posting on their boats, on a date, at work, in their cars, wherever, adds a personal touch. 👍

·

Didn't read the post because that first picture has melted my brain. 🥺

·

One can be passionate about one's watch preferences without attempting to invalidate the preferences of others. That's evidence that one is secure in one's self and doesn't feel diminished by views that differ from one's own.

I may not know better than others do but I certainly know me better than others do.

·

At work I use categorizations like: "Yes Josh, the tall bald guy with the Seamaster." Then I get blank stares.

·

That "dancing Carlton" gif cracks me up ... always found him to be the funniest character on Prince of Belair! LOL!

Yup, diverse group of folk here, from all over the Globe! All good!!

·

Well said! Happy Weekend 👌🙌

·

Well put!! 👏💯

·

I really love the Submariner, but I’ll never spend that type of money on one…..

so I got this instead:

Well said 👏 and I agree 👍. I think you , @FlatteryCamp and @WabiSabiMaster are on to something 😉.

Good take on

"We come from different geograhy, with different age and situation in life."

While this is true for the watch community in whole, it is especially true for the watch crunch community! Compared to other sites and forums, we can see a broad range from entry level watches all the way up to haute horlogerie, without too much snobism and prejudice against the other end of the spectrum.

And in addition, the broad geographic distribution lets us enjoy regionally limited special editions in the gallery that we probably wouldn't see in everyday life. Just thinking about the lovely Furlan Marri Rosso yesterday.💪

I'm honored to be mentioned in the same sentence with @WabiSabiMaster. He actively shapes our online community for the better and since I'm still a work in progress he has personally given me much to emulate. (Plus he has that freaking stellar Night Birch Grand Seiko!)

Some excel at degrading the decency with which one human being treats another while others improve the quality and quantity of healthy interactions. One can decide for one's self whether WC needs more of the former or the latter.

·

Spot on, Per, as always. Have nothing to add to what's been shared already.

One contradiction you ask? It's the "I'm reducing my humongous collection down to 6" then after 1-2 months...

...announces a NWA. LOL

I love this community! We may have different views, opinions, takes, preferences, etc., but what's paramount is RESPECT! 😎

·

Per, you are the best Brother! WC wouldn't be what it is without you.
