Todd Snyder x Timex

Any thoughts on this collab? I love it. But I have a thing for vintage watches from that 70s era.

That looks awesome, though I suspect there will be lots of hate based on brand alone.

Timex or Todd Snyder?

·

Timex, lots of dislike for Timex in the watch community.

·

Finally some straight end links! Great case shape and two tone, but does it come in any colors except black?

Having QUARTZ written bigger than the branding is a power move.

Yes. I find that strange on here (given what gets love on here)

·

I think it looks pretty good and price is OK. If you can get with the discount that popped up for me I would say is a solid offer.

When you're the "other" watch brand in America, you don't need to advertise. 😂

Agreed.

But only in the uninformed newbies to the hobbys minds. I haven';t seen too many veteran collectors dump on Timex. Most of the forums I visit have the utmost respect for the brand.

I think it comes down the difference between those who started wearing watches before the internet, and those who got into watches in the age of influencers.

Influencers dump on Timex a lot because it's a "mall" or "department store" brand, but Timex was in those places because people bought them when watches were a necessity. Similar to Citizen and a few other brands as well... It's always been "cool" to like things outside the mainstream, and Timex was about as mainstream as a watch brand could be.

·

It looks like a neat little Timex.

The bracelet looks like it was repurposed from someone’s eBay job lot of salvage watch parts.

x10000 and to @WristCounselor while maybe not the exact same, I have thoroughly enjoyed my Timex x Todd Snyder Roulette Military. Even got to buy in person at the flagship when I was visiting NYC. Luv the Timex x Todd Snyder collabs.

Yes, less so in here but it is sadly still around.

·

That’s a nice clean retro design. I’d like to see it offered in a lighter dial color, but well executed, as I see it.

Thanks for sharing!

One of my fav brands - Todd Snyder

I hate that the description tries to assert that this watch is in any way reminiscent of a “Goldfinger” Bond watch, but otherwise I like it a lot haha. 22mm lug width is a bit of a shame though

·

Groovy. It would pair pretty well with an Earth-toned leisure suit and some sideburns. But for that price I would've expected at least a mineral crystal.

They can be quite loud.

That said, back before smartphones almost everybody had a ticking clock in their home... It was a normal part of life then, just like the hum of modems and computers in a normal part of life now.

Hey Kristian, thanks man, I learned something new today.

Yes, I remember those grandfather clocks. They felt very regal.

·

I’m loving the vintage releases from timex, including this one. Can’t wait to see what else they produce this year

·

I wish I was on the ball and bought the liquor store model Timex/ Snyder. The Ranger looks cool too.

Wait. The avocado green dial one? It’s sold out? That was a nice one

The font they used for QUARTZ is hot 🔥

Right?

Yeah. This one is sold out on the Tom Snyder site.

It’s a nice color combo

Todd Snyder is one of the few fashion houses that can do this right. Their collaborations are almost always tastefully done. I think the watch looks fantastic. I would prefer endlinks that meet the case but it's a vibe I can appreciate.

Most people don't come out at say it, like with Hublot. Instead they use Timex as an example of a "bad" brand.

Here is an example.

https://www.watchcrunch.com/dumihed/posts/i-m-that-guy-288072

Dude doesn't say Timex are bad, just casually mocks them while describing the "journey" to "better" watches.

You don't see this nearly as much with Casio... My $200 GA-B2100 has a worse strap than my $100 Timex Atlantis, but you don't see people complaining about how terrible cheap Casio watches feel.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said or his experience with Timex, everyone's experiences are different and watches mean different things to different people.

I think the acrylic was used on purpose.

More like an original & gives it some distortion at an angle.

There was nothing wrong with it, it was just a recent example of what I was talking about.

People are free to think/say what they want, just as I am free to use what is said to reinforce my point.

As I said in the post you quoted, Timex gets uniquely singled out for being put down as cheap, while Casio gets a pass for being equally, if not more, cheap feeling.

You'd be surprised by how many people I know criticize Casio lol

·

Timex are making some really nice stuff at the moment

·

Looks similar to the Timex Q 1978 reissue, at least in shape. I always liked that watch, but didn't want to spend what they wanted on it. Sometimes Timex can feel a little overpriced. I'll have to Google to see who Todd Snyder is.
