I finally got the grail watch
So I have been interested in watches and have been collecting for over 25 years. I have always aspired to own a Rolex, but in recent years my respect for Rolex has been greatly diminished.
But I saved hard for years to buy my grail watch and I wasn’t going to let Rolex’s behaviour stop me when I had the chance to get the watch I really wanted. So when the AD called I knew the time had come to buy the watch I have always wanted.
I have to say I absolutely love the watch, it is a 36mm and is understated, which I absolutely adore. I look forward to enjoying this watch for many years to come.
I have been collection for over 20 years mostly Quartz and Swatch, I have recently rediscovered my love for watches and now am enjoying learning about the fascinating world of mechanical watches.

Congrats! People can talk down on Rolex all they want. Once you have had one you come to realize that the wait was worth it. Nothing wrong with delayed gratification. If the ADs would treat customers better people wouldn't frown on Rolex like they do. Enjoy your Explorer. That's a great watch and well worth the wait.
This is truly the perfect watch and my lifetime goal watch also. 36mm is and always will be the perfect size for a watch (unless you’re a hulk with a monster wrist I guess)

I think you have to separate Rolex from the behaviour of their AD's. As most AD's are separate independent companies, they are naturally going to exploit Rolexes dominance to try to sell other items. When all is said and done, they still make great watches. You've got a belter there. Enjoy.

I have been waiting for about 4 years at my AD in Amsterdam but I was lucky that I also checked in an AD in Ireland during the summer and made an expression of interest. So I was back home in Ireland at Christmas and they happened to have one in stock.
But there has definitely been a shift this year. During the summer I was able to walk into two different AD and buy the two tone explorer there and then and one even had a 40 mm OP. So I think there is definitely more availability than before.
