Do you wear your watch everywhere?

I like to buy watches that I can wear whatever I do. Casual, hiking, working out,

Going for a run, out to dinner, even dress up if need be. This way I don’t have to go home to change my watch or think about what’s on my wrist. For example sometimes I’ll go straight from work to the gym or out to do something. Say I wore an expensive dress watch to the gym I wouldn’t want to leave it in the car or the locker room. What do you guys do, drive home and leave it there? Seems like a hassle and a waste of time. This is why I have gravitated toward do it all watches with at least 100m of water resistance

On the day I go to the gym I don't wear anything too expensive and leave it in the car.

On other days I try to match with the outfit and with what I expect to happen on that day. I mean... it's mostly office days.

·

Difficult to answer: in my case yes and no, but mostly no. I sometimes change my watch 2 or 3 times in a day depending on the occasion.

·

Yes

·

If I’m not wearing a watch something terrible has happened. But I also tend to wear more than one watch per day depending on what I got going.

·

For the most part, yes. That’s why most of my collection is dive watches. Just really functional with good lume, rugged, water resistant, and they look good with pretty much anything.

·

Great shot Awesome watch

·

For me, not for sports, definitely not if I m near water.

·

No. I have pocket watches that get carried. And on rare occasions, I really don't need to know the time (for example, anytime I'm in the water).

·

Pretty much, but I keep a g shock in my truck. I've only had to throw it on a few times when I run into some unexpected work with tools that mechanical watches really wouldn't enjoy. Most of the time, I know what I'm getting into and will just wear a g shock that whole day if I'm going to be really rough on it.

Having taken the children swimming on a number of occasions it's one of the very few times I need to know how much longer I have to endure but don't have my phone with me. 🤔

·

Yes. Except in the shower. Everywhere else.

·

So I find I generally take off my watches for very rough things (where a g shock goes on) or running (where an Apple Watch goes on.)

The one exception to this was the titanium Tag Heuer Solargraph. The light weight, thin case, and no fears about the movement led me to really wear it everywhere.

I’m getting a Pelagos FXD tomorrow and hoping it replicates some of that Solargraph feel (light, easy strap, hopefully the movement can be robust enough..)

Yes. I wear a watch everywhere. But I generally pick the watch for the occasion.

A few years ago I bought a pre-owned Rolex 36mm OP. The same day I wore it to the gym so I could see what it looked like on me in the various mirrors. I banged it up against the barbell about 15 minutes into my workout. I no longer wear expensive watches to the gym.

And after reading this story, neither shall any of us hopefully! G shock for the gym, everybody!!!

There is always a watch on my left wrist unless I am in the shower. The last thing I do before I got to sleep is take my Ultra off my right wrist, and put it on the charger. Then loosen the strap on my left wrist one notch so it does not wake me up. But I always, wear a watch.

·

I do wear my watches everywhere, it’s a big consideration for me that the watch looks dressy enough to be able to be worn to the office but rugged enough to be worn out and about e.g. a Hamilton Murph or a Sinn 556a.

I do not, however, wear a watch in the gym just because I use fitness gloves that have wrist wraps to prevent injury so I’d definitely end up scratching the watch.

·

Yes, I put my watch on in the morning and it should work for whatever I face. I believe that my watches need to work me not the other way around.

·

I tend to wear mostly tool/military oriented watches, so yeah I sport them anywhere. On the rare occasion I need to wear a suit, an Orient Bambino fits the bill.

·

My Casio Edifice could be my GADA. Screw down crown, 100m water resistant 40mm case. It has been a great companion.

You’re terrible! 😂😂

·

When I once was the one watch person it was one all the time. Now I that I have more than one all depends I just rotate.

·

Apple Watch for gym, treks and hikes.. would usually not wear my expensive ones when I venture out for these..

·

Watch on my wrist continuously since early 1980's. To sleep, shower, everything. Only times without a watch were hospital and prison.

Neither of which I hope to experience again 🤣

·

Yes, everywhere. Why baby it? Everywhere except the shower (because of the steam), and to bed.

Fully agree

The watch goes in a locker or stays home… dress, sport, who effen cares? But if you want to squat with a 6k watch go for it.

I just don’t trust it in a locker and my car has been broken into before so I don’t trust it there and the problem is sometimes I end up somewhere like the gym without planning on it and don’t/can’t waste time driving back home in between.

All fair points.
