Tissot PRX, Not For Me?

At one point, I thought I would probably get a Tissot PRX Powermatic. Inexpensive, Swiss, Mechanical; 3 things I want in a watch. However, the more I see it in wrist shots, the more I'm turned off by it. Specifically the integratedness of the bracelet/strap. This is weird because I loved the 90's and all the funky bracelets. Now however, I'm more about the versatility of my watches; dressing them up or down with a new strap and how easy that process is. I've never tried one on, so I'm leaving the door open to it, but only slightly. Am I wrong for not strongly wanting one? If so, tell me why.

Integrated is not my deal. On paper I should love it too, I am a bit of a spec junkie. It just does not speak to me? Its kind of inflexible? It feels kind of flavor of the month?

·

Tried one on today. Nope. Also, tried on a Omega speed master. Sure. Tried  on a Tudor BB. Maybe. Put on a Rolex 18k yellow gold President. Yes.

·

I like the PRX Chronograph but not the integrated bracelet

·

Personally if I were to get a Tissot it would be a Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium. Great value and a beautiful, versatile piece.

·

I dislike (hate) bracelets, so the PRX has always been unappealing to me.

·

I see your point about wrist shots.  The best option would be to go and try it on.  You might have a different opinion about it afterwards.  See if it speaks to you and if it has a place in your collection.  I purchased one on release day without trying it on and thought if i don't like it when it arrived, with all the hype being new, I could have sold it on without losing any money.  I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and the quality of the finish at that price point I actually kept it. Good luck and happy collecting.

·

Not wrong. I bought the PRX because I couldn't get a discount for a Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium. Had I the money today and is looking between the two I'd go for the Gentleman.

I lilove my PRX but it can be a pain in the butt, especially if you like to change straps.

·

I‘m with you. I just don’t like integrated bracelets. It’s not a style that piques my interest.

·

Not wrong. I saw the PRX on display and I was not tempted to try it. It looked too large for me and its integrated bracelet is a limiting factor that has no appeal to me.

·

Very savvy Not adding a Wrong option. I've wanted to add a Tissot to the collection and I love the 90's However I've tried to like this watch beyond the effort I should have given it. The price is attractive and it's a great watch.

I actually just tried one on again yesterday, why? Because I want this relationship to work out somehow!

@TalkingDugong has posted WRUW'S that made me rethink it. However It just doesn't speak to me

Besides I’m going though a faze right now..Ive been diagnosed  with chronographidis  🙄

lets see the watch on your wrist then maybe you will reconsider 👍

Ive been diagnosed with chronographidis

Me also! Lol

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you

·

Honestly, it's kinda clunky shaped, the hands look thin and cheap. I probably just offended a lot of people.

It's tempting at the price, but I also think you won't be remiss to pass on this one.

Poor guy. Chronographidis you say? The only remedy is to buy a new one, preferably a flyback. A rattrapante would be even better.

That said, I'm sorry to say there's no cure to this. It will go in remission but the dread chronographidis will strike at an inopportune moment.

Carry on, brave soldier. Carry on!

Dabs cheek with a tissue to dry the tears 😂

my experience so far with integrated bracelets is to go for a size smaller that you’d usually go for. But Unfortunately, the PRX line has no middle ground.

·

I have the PRX quartz on a bracelet and Tissot leather strap for it.  It foits my big giant wrist perfectly.

I bought the PRX chrono because I love the blue and the pushers.  And I think 42mm is my perfect size.

Both are in regular rotation in my large collection with the quartz getting more wrist time currently.

Now that Tissot has introduced the smaller case size it should appeal to even more people.

·

Love this watch even though I have not tried it on yet only thing that holds me back its that bracelet. I don't feel I have the perfect wrist for that watch. Even lets say that I get it and I change the wrist band I don't want to take away that originality. So let it be and somebody else will enjoy it.

·

I‘m with ya. The watch just appears underwhelming from every photo and video I‘ve seen of it. I understand I can only really judge the watch if I‘ve held it in my hand. However, if there is a lack of motivation for me to even do that…then the whole deal is mute.

I was a bit skeptical of it at first but enjoyed the ease of wear on wrist when I tried it out.  It is also more an everyday type of watch for me at the price point.  It does have a strong design language so I get not liking it. Love the poll btw, subjective taste is subjective, there is no one true watch style no matter how popular. Speaking as a general heretic who just doesn't get the appeal of most dive watches myself of course.

It's certainly different than the standard round case with lugs, but it seems like it's very popular, maybe excessively so. I like to not own the same thing everyone else does. So another point not in it's favor in my calculations.

But, I'm not entirely ruling it out. Gotta try one first. The wearing experience may overcome all that.

As far as the poll structure, I wanted to signal that I was encouraging discussion over flaming disagreements. I think it worked. Comments have been very respectful.

Bought one. Wears top heavy and chunky. Sold it. I have yet to buy a Tissot the I kept.

·

I was thinking about integrated bracelets for some time, at first I think I may want to change bracelets. Then integrated bracelet idea grew in me and I bought a vintage Seiko 5 to give it a try and I am happy about it. I don't think I will change the bracelet for this one. From now on this will go on as the integrated piece of my collection.

·

Gonna be honest im probably the only one that thinks this but the tissot prx is an ugly watch in my opinion and it feels like this watch is a hype watch and a fad. I'm not into integrated bracelets at all. I like the idea of changing out straps for a completely different look. Although I like the dial with the square design on it and i like the blue colour, I don't like the rest of the watch. Looks to dressy and it doesn't suit my taste. But I also heard good things about the movement it's reliable and smooth sweeping which is a plus.

Love it!.  For me that would be a nope, nope, nope, yup.

·

Not really into the PRX.  Proprietary lugs (strap or bracelet) are pretty much a non-starter for me; I like the ability to fool around with straps until I get one that really works.

·

I don't think the integrated bracelet is a reason to dismiss the watch out of order.  The whole point of this watch is the integrated design, and its very cool IMHO.  The whole point of the PRX is to go after that vintage Genta style.  Newsflash, it's working.

For the reasons above, you definitely need to try it on the wrist before dismissing it.

I have a few watches with integrated bracelets, it is a mild bummer at times, but thats fine because I have many other options that are strap monsters.

·

IMHO your personal opinion is the most important thing when it comes to wearing a watch. If you can't vibe with it, then that's perfectly valid. Better spend your money on something you will love and cherish over something that's popular.

·

I've been on the fence about this watch ever since I first saw it. I think it's a good design, albeit a bit of a homage, but priced nicely. I just got a Speedy Racing, and have fallen heads over heels for it. That being said I have probably spoiled myself a bit to much, and wouldn't buy at this price range anymore. I've got plenty of comparable movements to this watch so it would be a bit redundant. So at this point my only reason to buy this watch would be for the case design seeing as I have a Ball Fireman Victory with a Clous De Paris dial that is very similar to the dial on this piece. I would however possibly be interested in the PRX Chrono with the 18k gold bezel, but with the Speedy I'm kinda covered on chronos. If I were still at the beginning of my watch collecting days the PRX would be a no Brainer, however where I currently stand this watch is not for me. That all being said it's a very nice watch with an interesting albeit done before design that has a great power reserve, and a fantastic Swiss workhorse movement.

I personally is in this dilemma, the first time I tried on the PRX with my wife and she thinks it looks horrid... then I went on to show the watch pictures to a few friends (not watch geeks) and they think it looks "old-ish"... yet, I went and tried on a few more times and slowly grow fond of it. To me when I tried the leather strap version on, I love it, as I felt like it gives the watch a little more flexibility, and now I am on the fence on getting the PRX or Khaki field but I am leaning towards PRX due to how I normally wear to work daily (Smart casual as an academician).
