Just buy a F91W, you nerds!

Feast your eyes on my Victorinox INOX, a watch that's not just an accessory but a testament to my rugged adventures. It's been my faithful companion through the savage beauty of Long skiing expeditions, the perilous ascent of Ama Dablam, and the unyielding demands of military drills. Yet, amidst these tales of valor, lies the delicious irony of its survival story. The gold-plated quartz, chosen for its 'longevity,' waved the white flag after a mere five years. Its heavy steel construction, a fortress against time, turns into an icy shackle giving me frostbite in the dead of night. The weight, a symbol of its robustness, becomes a cruel reminder of its presence as I toss and turn in my sleeping bag, and its towering height, a constant battle with the cuffs of my gloves.

And then there's the lume — so dim you'd think it was designed for covert operations in enemy territory. But let's be honest, the closest you'll ever get to night vision goggles is watching '13 hours'. You might need NVGs to see the time, but we both know your night ops involve navigating to the fridge without stubbing your toe.

But hey, it's tested to survive being driven over by a tank! Something all EDC mall cops dream of and a feature as practical as a submarine with screen doors. It's a marvel of engineering that manages to be indestructible in all the ways thats meaningless. In the realm of EDC forums, it stands as a beacon of what they truly seek: not just tools for survival, but symbols of our unyielding pursuit of preparedness, no matter how ironic the sacrifices. Here's to the Victorinox INOX, the watch that endures everything but convenience, a perfect metaphor for the EDC enthusiast's quest: gearing up for the apocalypse, one impractical gadget at a time.

Yeah I had the same reaction when I changed the battery on my INOX for the first time…

It’s basically just a hunk of metal and I’m not mad about it 😎

·

Excellent 👍

Now a 36mm watch on NATO with a screw down crown would be far more comfortable and just as durable with sapphire crystal. You would forget you had it on.

·

Great piece of writing ! Well done, well said !

·

I know this kind of misses the point but great looking watch.

Only 200M WR?

Psh.. I'd be afraid to wash the dishes with that, let alone run it through my night ops/frogman drills.

When someday you resell, make sure and let buyers know it's been "lightly worn". All kidding aside, that is so awesome. All mine has is a bezel gouge at the 6. But the scratches on yours really speaks volumes.

My Victornox quartz from high school is from 2007 and still running amazingly in 2023.

It's ironic that overbuilt "tough" watches become so huge that you almost have to turn sideways to go through a door without racking them on the door jamb. They take so many hits and knocks that a smaller watch would never see. It becomes circular logic where its needs to be big because it's overbuilt and it needs to be overbuilt because it's so big.

Casio has been pushing to achieve smaller and slimmer G Shocks for years. The Casioak and the square have seen smaller releases every year of late. That should tell people something when the king of the chonky tough watch is like, "Guys, are we thinking these are maybe too big?" 😂

I'll take a small, well-built watch over an apocalypse-proof big boy any day.

I actually just got a Baby G that's the smallest G family watch to date. There's a strong danger that it might fire my other G Shocks.

My Inox in mudd green looks to fresh compared to Your well used time showing tool! I am thinking about getting artificial scratches in to make it look more tough.🤪
