Up close and personal….

Finally figured out how to capture inky black on cam. I’m thrilled with my first ink black dial. Researched them for a year & was resolved to get the 40mm Explorer (which I still love) but then this thing appeared on the radar. Anyway, the finishing hype of GS holds up under scrutiny.

Nice macros! 🏆

According to Gary at "I Like Watches" on YouTube - San Martin may have better finishings dial and materials 😂🤣😂🤣 Re: Rolex vs. San Martin 🧐🤔

Yeah I saw that. These days clones and super clones are killing it in finishing no doubt, but their movement continue to be dirty, half baked pieces of crap. Far to costly for them to compete in that area.

Dirty? Half baked?

Absolutely, look at some vids comparing movements of genuine vs fake Rolex super clones. It’s all there to see. Not a judgement against those who order them, just saying that there is an inherent cost involved with genuine movements that super clones can’t match due to cost of parts.

Absolutely love it! Which references is this? SB..blah...blah...num....num.....num? :)

I've taken the backs of my Chinese watches with Seiko nh34/ 35's, never seen anything poor inside. There again, I've never taken the back off a Rolex, or owned one, hang on those comments are related. 🤣

Great photos! Inspiration to learn more about my macro lens. 👌🏻

Thank you so much for this my man!! I have no words for this piece 😭

You’re very welcome! Yeah it’s pretty spectacular. In the honeymoon phase for sure 😂

GS is something special. Just be careful, if you look at it too hard that polishing is going to scratch.

Yeah, been through that trauma with my other GS. Took me a day to get over the first scratch 😂 doesn’t bother me now though. I buy ‘em to wear ‘em. 👍🏼

I used to own the SBGX341. It was nice but the bezel would catch dings like no other. The front was brushed while where it beveled was high polished. I swear every time I looked at it a new mark would appear. 😂I am in the market for a new GS (to me at least) and I think the trick is to buy used, so it already has some scratches on it when I get it.

Exactly right. Both I purchased were second hand but VERY good condition. My method is to look for those that are sold with box and papers. That seems to be a good way to find those that treat their pieces well. Also, both of mine were people that bought theirs and for whatever reason decided it wasn’t for them. Got them both and great prices and barely a mark on either.

Unbelievable pics! Have to say these are some of my favorite pics of watches! Well done. You captured what can't be written or spoken about Grand Seiko fit and finish

SB = Men's Watch

SL = Men's Watch (with newer movements and since SB-letter combinations ran out that avoided similar or confusing letters like O and Q and I)

ST = Women's Watch

GA, GH (for example) = Model line

_ _ X Even numbers = Limited Model

_ _ X Odd numbers = Regular Model

0 _ _ = First Series of a model (SBGA011 = Seiko Snowflake)

2 _ _ = Second Series of a model (SBGA211 = New Snowflake)

Hope that helps to sort that blah... blah... num... num... num...

Thank you! I knew the SBGA’s were spring drives and SBGH’s were high beats, but you filled in a number of unknowns for me, so thank you again.
