I caught my wife….
My wife, like many of our collective significant others, is decidedly not a watch nerd.
However….
This morning as we sat next to each other on the couch, my left arm on a cushion next to her, we were having a conversation about anything and I asked her a generic question, to which she responded……..with silence.
After a few seconds of waiting for her to answer, I looked to my left and caught her studying the watch on my arm.
She looked up at me, realizing she hadn’t heard or answered my question.
“What did you say?” She said.
“Nothing” I responded, as I quietly grinned and turned away.
“What?!” She said.
“Nothing” I replied. ……“Nothing at all”. 😏

Well, after 29 years of marriage, I don’t ask about her purchases and she doesn’t ask about mine. We’re both responsible-ish adults and are careful with finances. So there’s no issues.

Same. I’m 53 now, been wearing glasses since I’ve been 14, also a minimalist. I fell in love with the inky black dial and the simplicity on this SBGA467. I was looking at the 40mm Explorer, but when I saw this I had to have it.
I was enjoying Saturday dim sum lunch with my wife in Chinatown, she likes to people watch, I check out the watches on some of the longtime regulars, lots of gold Rolex watches a few Pateks, decent number of Panerai, of course Cartier on a few fashion conscious ladies. Suddenly she is distracted by the glare of my GS White Birch reflecting light from an overhead pod. I have worn the timepiece numerous times with her but she said that she never noticed how flashy the watch is, not a fan in fact she instructed me to cover up. She is calmed by the knowledge that I will make haste and purchase a next watch perhaps more congruent with my dull appearance.
