Seiko really are on a quest now on releasing all the popular old Seiko 5 with improved specs (and more expensive price tags). Not sure that “recycling” the 5KX makes this new release any favors though.
I would recommend handling this piece first before making any purchase decisions. See if the rotor wobble bothers you or if you can live with it.
I found it very apparent and it put me off completely from the purchase of this watch. The movement is based on a Valjoux 7750 with unidirectional winding. This doesn’t tend to be an issue in chunkier chronographs, as they are thick and have heavy cases and bracelets and you don’t tend to realize of the wobble. But the case and crystal on the Chronoscope are so light that any wobble comes immediately through.
As somebody who, among other things, has written scientific papers for a living, I’ll send all this website to the recycling bin of my mind due to an extremely flawed methodology and misleading data representation.
It can be seen as plain, I decided considering this specific reference as “intentional”. It has one mission and one mission only: allowing its wearer to tell super accurate time at a short glance in any condition. The matte dial and the hands are engineered to that specific purpose and therefore, this GS accomplishes its mission brilliantly without any other bells and whistles. Less is more on this one.
