Two in the Roll, One on the Wrist - Episode III - A Christmas Special

It’s the holidays and for many of us living far from our families, it’s time to go back home and spend some days eating and drinking a bit too much and having the “how many watches do you have now?” talk.

The collection chosen this year to accompany me can seem like a motley crew of watches but they have good reasons to be here.

I strapped on the G-Shock to travel, as the WRUW post of that day showed. That was two train rides, one flight and one car ride to my parents’, all while carrying a heavy coat on a sweltering hot airport and a very awkwardly shaped tote bag full of presents and a wheelie suitcase with a malfunctioning telescopic handle. Of course I was flying low-cost. The last thing I wanted to care about that day was the state of my timepiece so I just strapped the G-Shock on for piece of mind and on-flight legibility. Among my plans for later in the holidays, there’s a snowboard day with friends and a 5k street race on NYE. The CasiOak is the only piece in my collection capable of performing in these two events.

The PRX is almost an integral part of this series of posts, there’s always a place for it in the roll. This piece already saw some social action yesterday evening as I met a couple of friends in Barcelona for beers and dinner. I unfortunately didn’t take any pictures of it under the lights of a Vicio burger joint, but it looked like a $10k piece under these lights. Simply spectacular. The customer next to me was wearing a MoonSwatch, so I guess I was in good company. The PRX will of course be there at dinner time and when meeting with friends.

Nothing screams more Christmas spirit than a Chinese air force watch, right? The Seagull 1963 was this year as my third watch simply because of its dressy flair more appropriate for the proper Christmas meals and celebrations, and because my dad wants to wear it on NYE. I showed him the piece in pictures when I bought it and he thinks it’s pretty cool and wants to try it on and leave his Bvlgari at home! (I’ll wear the Bvlgari then, probably) It will look good when photographed next to a whisky glass.

That’s all from me this time. If you made it here, enjoy these days no matter if you celebrate Christmas or if you don’t, be happy and keep healthy for a great 2024!
