“No Win Scenario”
You step through the Guardian portal with your crew but the portal doesn’t close behind you. Something is wrong and there’s no time. Your tricorder readings are inconclusive. Clearly, the Borg has altered the gateway to allow them to access any point in time and space. You recalibrate the frequency on your phaser and it buys you a little time as the force pushes the Borg backward. Your crew continue to recalibrate frequencies and valiantly try to knock back the cyborgs. However, it’s only a matter of time until the Borg adapt to all frequencies and then they’ll overrun you. You turn your phaser onto the gateway arch but it also has no affect.
Q appears suddenly in a green hued flash…but it can’t be…he’s been assimilated…
“I am Q, I am Borg…this is a vision of your past, present, and future. You have pushed into the Final Frontier and it has pushed back. This is your end…” as he shakes his head. “No, no, there is a way to fight, to win. The gateway is a door that must be closed from both sides”. Q shakes his head violently and starts to talk to himself incoherently. He’s right and you need to destroy the portal from both sides. Someone needs to go back, hold off the Borg long enough, and destroy the gateway from the other end while you destroy it on this end. Who will make the ultimate sacrifice? This is the Kobayashi Maru, the No-Win Scenario…

Crews, it is time to test your mental and emotional fortitude. This is the test for one the Captain and First Officer in command. It is the ultimate test and burden of leadership.
Captains/First Officers - you will be making the final decision and will live with the consequences of your actions.
Give the order for 2 of your crewmen to go back through the portal to hold back the Borg and destroy the gateway.
You two, Captain and First Officer, can make the ultimate sacrifice, and head back through the portal yourselves to close that end.
If you don’t make a decision, I will decide for you, using the criteria of my own choosing.
You may discuss and decide amongst your entire crew on how to proceed, but the Captain will give the final command by posting who will make the sacrifice and tagging me on the reply. You have until 5/11 5pm (UTC 0:00 5/12) to make your decision. Good luck and Live Long and Prosper.

You know how much of a nerd I am? I know where that gif occurred in the show. This is when Data was assigned as Acting Captain of the USS Sutherland, and was part of an armada of Starfleet ships running a tachyon network blockade to prevent Sela and the Romulan from resupplying the Duras sisters in the Klingon Civil War. Data was ordering his first officer to fire low yield torpedoes at cloaked Warbirds to expose their involvement in the war.

@Adamasuta and @Urkraft, I fear that we’ve already lost @ImNevix to the borg — but in case he’s still out there fighting I’ll be more use to him as chief medical officer and acting engineer if I stay and close the gateway from the other side.

Wow, I can sometimes do this with Doctor Who. Post-2005 Doctor Who.
I couldn’t stand how Eccleston looked like a villain. I was in and out of the Tennant era but was all in on Matt Smith/Karen Gillan. Amy Pond…wow. But the River Song episodes were heartbreaking. Capaldi felt too old, sorry, especially compared to Smith. The female doctor changed too much of the Doctor Who lore. I got lost.

Taste is a valid argument for everything concerning art.
But you don't have to feel bad for not understanding 13, most of her episodes weren't good and kong story arcs weren't good either. There was just one outstanding episode. But after 14 (Tennant again, in three specials), things started looking up again. The Christmas special with 15 was good and the new series starts tomorrow!

Oh yeah thanks for the reminder. While Tennant is a fan favorite, the show needs to move past him and stop bringing him back to juice ratings and nostalgia.

It just showed how much trouble the show was in. Or maybe it was partly done as a 60th anniversary, when the previous Doctors return? Who knows. He'll be back for 70th, along with Smith, Capaldi and Whittaker, unless any one of them can't make it. Such is the tradition.

I stay with the production numbering: Every lead recasting for the next production block of the official TV show gets a new numeral. No Peter Cushing, no Rowan Atkinson et al, no Richard E. Grant, no John Hurt, no Jo Martin et al.
Admittedly, Davies joined in on the spacey-wacey mess with his own addition (spoilers), but there's a loose thread that can still be neatly woven back in.
