Good for you, sir! I go to conferences in the Arabian Gulf and would not dream of attending without wearing suit and tie, polished shoes, double cuffed shirt with cufflinks - and a good watch, of course (usually my GS).
Yes, some of the US tech bros there will be in trainers, jeans, untucked shirts etc. But if you dress like that all the time, how do you mark the difference with when you're off duty?
There is a value in having a uniform for different events. Although I once found it ridiculous, I actually liked wearing a morning coat (tails) for weddings in when I lived in the UK. Just like I enjoy wearing Baju Melayu for weddings and Eid events in Malaysia.
It really isn't such a great imposition. It's also about paying respect to your hosts and to the event itself - acknowledging that it is a special/formal occasion and so you should dress accordingly.
I get your point and I know plenty will agree with you.
But then there are others of us who - while we wish they had micro-adjust, of course! - actually find GS bracelets fine. The one on my SBGA373 looks the part, and fits well as the AD fitted it not once but twice (he said I should come back if it wasn't quite right, and I did). It really doesn't let the watch down as far as I'm concerned.
I live in Malaysia so when it's on the wrist I may be going from airconditioned inside to dining outside in the humidity at night. No problem. The only time it gets a bit tight is when I go to Qatar in the summer, but then that is high 30s and into the 40s, so...
All that said, every watch at this price point should have micro-adjust.
