First post - SOTC June 2023

Hello fellow crunchers! This is my first post, on my collection at the moment. Would love to hear your thoughts! Keep it positive, keep it crunchy ๐Ÿ˜„

GS Spring Drive: my dress watch. Beautiful, unbelievably accurate, queen of my collection.

Tudor Pelagos: daily driver, beasty, a bit "sinister" as Jody says, also v accurate (minus 2 secs a day), I've bonded with it perhaps even more than the Watch Idiot has! I couldn't do without it.

Parnis Kermit: bit of fun. Quite good for the price. And because I wouldn't buy a Rolex kermit if I could buy a sub - which I can't because Rolex clearly don't want me as a customer even though I bought the Tudor from them. (I'm on the "wait list" for an Air King, but I'm not expecting to be called. Ever.)

Tag Heuer Aquaracer quartz: my first expensive watch, now my beater. Sports, cycling, swimming - it withstands it all. And looks stunning when the sun catches the blue dial. Don't fall for the hate, folks. I love my do it all Tag.

Moonswatch: I happened to walk past the Swatch store in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur, 10 minutes after they'd had a delivery. I know Adrian says it's crap... and it probably is... but it'll do until Omega puts its new super accurate movement in a real Moonwatch and then I'll aspire to buying one

Orient Kano: lovely looking watch. My first mechanical. An education for me. I cannot deal with watches gaining 30 seconds a day. Unfortunately that means I can only be satisfied with watches with well above COSC accuracy. Which means $$$$. So nothing will be added to the collection for a long time....

A serious question. We all love watches. Which are meant to tell the time. Accurately. Why are so many totally unbothered by that? Note my core three is GS, Tudor and Tag quartz - maximum deviation 2 secs a day. But I know I'm unusual in being so demanding.

Be well crunchers. It's a great community ๐Ÿ‘

PS I know my little collection looks diver heavy. My next wish is for an IWC. Suggestions to diversify from here on most welcomed. But remember, for me they have to be at least Tudor accuracy levels. (Minus 2 plus 4 a day). So high end quartz most definitely considered. Take care everyone - and have fun!

Nice start!

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š

Sound collection. Personally I like that some of mine are accurate, where it's an expensive mechanical. But for the most part I don't care so long as it's not a minute out. If asked for the time I usually round it to the quarter hour anyway.

Thanks for the kind words. With the Orient what drove me nuts was it could be a minute out in two days. My Pelagos is 18 seconds slow now - but that's after 9 days. That's forgivable. I think we agree that if they're expensive they ought to be accurate ๐Ÿ˜€

Haha, we love them! But we should consider other watches too... fliegers, man....

Welcome to the Jungle...

I enjoy that the you have an accessible mechanical with your Orient and a "I'm doing me!" quartz with the MoonSwatch. I've found that collecting has been much more satisfying for me when my own voice takes precedence over someone who is perhaps just monetizing content and also when I shrug off those who loudly proclaim how "wrong" my choices are when they differ from theirs. As always Your Wrist, Your Rules! #welcome

That GS is DYNAMITE

Welcome and very nice collection

I think we have similar tastes in watches. I have the same Pelagos and several Orients. I love the look of the Grand Seiko. The more I learn about them the more I want one! Welcome to the Crunch!

Welcome!

Welcome! Have to agree the GS spring drive is sick, the smooth sweep and beautiful polishing makes this my current favorite. Got the SBGE 285 during my recent Canadian road trip. Love your collection!

How about an IWC big pilot? ๐Ÿ˜€

I love IWC but when I hold them in the hand I have such a strong feeling that they are vastly over priced. I got a basic Laco to deal with that flieger itch and I'm very happy with it.

Okay... I changed my mind. I bought the Mark XX in January. Couldn't resist. You were right! They may be overpriced - or maybe not. You really see the quality in the metal. I compare it to my wife's blue OP? Ah ah, I've got the better watch...

Actually I did a post about it. You can find it if you search for IWC. For some reason I have a problem attaching pics from my phone, which I'm on now

Saw a picture of your IWC, nice looking piece! Love the blue colour.
