Suit Up for your Watch

At a business event and its a sad state of affairs when you realize that in the entire event with 10000 people you are probably among the 10 - 15 people who still love wearing a tie - People have taken this "casual" thing a little too seriously - And thats fine if it works for them but I love to suit up and suit up properly - And hey, whether someone likes it or not, there is a special place in hell for people who wear a dress shirt untucked under a blazer or suit jacket - If you are too lazy to tuck your shirt in, then sorry I cant trust you to do any business with you - What are you; a 12 year old????

Why do I feel attacked? 🤣🤣 do we include people with sneakers and a suit in hell?

And...not me but some would look down on a dive watch and a suit.

·

But they are expressing their individuality in a blander and sloppier way by removing the expressive element that allows the pop of color. I'm sure they truly believe that it is more comfortable as well.

Lol no we dont count them (unless its a suit with a tie and then someone wears sneakers - then yes they are counted) - And yeah before Bond it was ok to raise an eyebrow at someone wearing a dive watch with a suit - but thanks to her majestys secret service the rules have changed - I could have of course worn my Cartier Tank today but wanted to really wear this Omega with the suit

Yeah I know - Still belong to that corner in hell -

The satorial decline is a problem and I hope we've hit rock bottom. Keep up the fight and you look sharp.

·

Nah. Dark jeans + untucked dress shirt + upscale sneakers like vejas + blazer = a great look.

·

I fully agree with you, this casual trend has gone way too far with untucked shirts, sneakers and even t-shirts instead of proper shirt. I oftenly leave out a tie ( depends on event dress code ) as I don't like the feeling of wearing it. Being devils advocate no matter what Bond wears and what the queen approved I would never wear a diver with suit, period🤣

·

Looking like Daniel Craig Bond here.

I work with a lot of 12 year olds hahah.

As someone who also loves to properly suit up but who rarely has the opportunity I understand how you feel, when I get the chance I always want to dress my best. These days feeling comfortable in formal attire is like a superpower, I've been to so many weddings and other events where I was the only person who felt comfortable and confident in my clothes, if dressing well for a few hours is that big of a deal I feel sorry for you.

·

Maybe would have gone with a blue, black or gray dial here but I agree that dive watches are ok with suits as long as it matches

·

I really like your watch. Very nice 🤜 🤛

·

Rules are meant to be broken and styles change. I'm with you if I have to dress up I don't mind more reasons to wear my King Seiko. But on the same token I can say wearing a dive watch with a suit is a NO NO we are not James Bond. Suits are suppose to be worn with a minimalist watch that's thin. I would say I rather see someone wearing sneakers and watch vs a suit and an Apple watch. I think with fashion is a never ending battle of what we should or should not wear.

·

Etiquette, dignity, style sense - If they don’t get it they never will.

·

I'm with you. I wear a tie most days, just like I wear a watch. It's class.

·

I only have 1 black suit now, but I agree, if I am wearing it, I am wearing a tie.

Chronomaster

What is this? Badly removed stitching or just bad quality control?

Oh oh .. the cars salesmen is starting to surface! It never takes too long ..

Good for you, sir! I go to conferences in the Arabian Gulf and would not dream of attending without wearing suit and tie, polished shoes, double cuffed shirt with cufflinks - and a good watch, of course (usually my GS).

Yes, some of the US tech bros there will be in trainers, jeans, untucked shirts etc. But if you dress like that all the time, how do you mark the difference with when you're off duty?

There is a value in having a uniform for different events. Although I once found it ridiculous, I actually liked wearing a morning coat (tails) for weddings in when I lived in the UK. Just like I enjoy wearing Baju Melayu for weddings and Eid events in Malaysia.

It really isn't such a great imposition. It's also about paying respect to your hosts and to the event itself - acknowledging that it is a special/formal occasion and so you should dress accordingly.

First off, that NTTD is gorgeous. What an awesome watch.

Having said that, not really sure what to do with the fact that you are taking issue with others for not following traditional attire norms... while you are wearing a titanium diver with a suit. 🤷

Agree with you, at least if the shirt and jacket has looser fitting so the watch could slip in is better than the shirt sleeve stuck on watch and cannot go in thus make a crumple. I think, wearing the watch when fitted at the tailor would do the trick but would get a raised eye brow from reputable one.

·

You owned Catiers, I think those more suitable with the attire and event. So please do the same with the tucked in watch as you value tucked in shirt.

·

The difference between those two thing is huge - Like as much as my tolerance and yours in terms of letting the ppl get away with untucked shirt )) - but seriosuly that shirt thing is too much- you are way too kind 🙌

A jacket is an outer wear that covers anything inside it, so it is strange if anything inside is poking outside, the same could be said with inner garment unless you are a superheroes that wear them outside.

That's the right tool for the job unless you wear them in reverse role with the diver.

dude you need to stop relying on old men who give tips on suits working for mens wearhouse - This is cringeworthy because thats not how outer-inner works - Some idiot at some point trying to sell a dress watch said that a watch must never peek out from under the sleeve and guys took it like 10 commandments - Stop believing all that like its word of god

·

I hate to say it, but the fashion now is a suit and no tie.

Similarly, sneakers (of the right style) are also acceptable in business setting.

Just like dive watches are acceptable with suits (I accept this one only begrudgingly) that's just the way things are right now. Will it change? Absolutely, but I don't know what direction it will go.

Totally agree with you - Thats why all my life I have never followed "fashion" - fashions come and go - Style, on the other hand, is eternal and evergreen

I'll go further. Style who you are. What you wear is just a side effect.

They were all dress watches before and not even from man. Be discreet and classy, let you wear the watch, not the other way around. But anything said, be you or the world has 1 less colour.
